Are people really expecting a big boost and comeback for the travel industry?

Seems unlikely with these high prices.

You been to an airport or tried to rent a car for a trip lately? It's not likely vs unlikely, people are traveling.

Have you priced appliances lately? I was about to pull the trigger on new kitchen appliances....of the four items I choose, they had all increased 16-33% within the LAST MONTH. Eat my shorts!

Why is that? Is it permanent or temporary?

Why? Dunno. Most inventory is depleted, too...so I maybe that is part of the problem. I don't know the drivers but I will refrain from speculating.

Consumers spent a ton on appliances last year for home reno. You think the demand for those items will increase on a continual basis? In other words, those same people are going to keep purchasing refrigerators and ovens every single year?

Absolutely.

You can't keep a vehicle reservation in AK. Need to go rent on peer sites like Outdoorsy. Everything else gets cancelled. Even the mainstream RV places are overbooked.

Prices are through the roof on everything right now.

I get the want and desire for travel to pick up and rebound greatly, just wondering even if airline prices and rental car prices are up so much.

Oh yeah..

Considering people haven't traveled in a year and a half, its exploding.

Is there a problem with my comment? Just curious to see how much travel will rebound even if it’s more expensive than ever before.

Appliance price increases are almost entirely supply related. When it takes four months to get an oven, that means there is limited supply, which means prices go up. This is basic Econ 101. Having said that, I can entertain an argument that stimulus money printing didn't help this as more people could afford appliances, and thus put a hurt on the supply.

Just energy? That’s not that important to the global economy

Look at every tourist destination in the country, they're completely booked

It's because most of the other stuff has pretty obvious explainations with the chip shortage and the used car market is double fricked with after the rental companies had to liquidate last year and buy a bunch this year.

Energy though underpins everything, including food.
