re: Inexplicably remembering insignificant dreams from years ago

I remember dreams from when I was young, pre-teen years. I used to have the same dreams every time I got really sick and high fever. Still remember all of my dreams. Also starting watching Archive 81 tonight, so I might be channeling ghosts. Or I am the ghost. shite.

What’s weird to me is that my dreams will reference dreams from years ago. It’s almost like my dreams exist in a parallel world with its own versions of people and places that I know in the waking world.

I’ve had a dream about a place, building, landscape etc. that I’ve never been too and then later on when I’m traveling or somewhere I’ve never been I’ll see those places etc.. weird deja vu

This has happened to me, but I have had dreams about people I haven't seen or communicated with since I was young. The most recent was about this girl I haven't seen or talked to since middle school. And in the dream she was just there doing whatever and I was there just doing whatever. We didn't acknowledge each other..
It was like all of a sudden I remembered this person and it came in the form of a dream. It was weird as hell.

I've also had the class-skipping dream, several times over the last 25 years or so...I've never talked to anyone about it or heard anyone else say they've had it, pretty fascinating.
A couple of others I've had frequently are 1) sometimes I find myself half or fully naked in public and have to scramble to find something to wear, or 2) I'm playing golf in tee boxes that are impossible to find a place to tee up a ball to swing and hit it. They usually involve sloped lies, houses or trees. Sometimes the holes are the same ones I've dreamt about but I've never played or seen them as far as I can tell, I don't remember exactly what they look like when I wake but I recognize them in the dream.

I can't even remember the amount of times in the last 10 years I've had dreams where I'm standing in front of my HS locker and can't remember the combination. I begin to panic in my dreams and wake up suddenly only to realize I'm not in HS and no longer have a locker. I graduated HS 30 years ago.

I have done that multiple times since I was a teenager and it never fails to give me the heebejeebies. 1st time I was camping at Pickwick lake for the first time ever at 16. Never camped or been there before but as I stood on the rocks looking at Pickwick damn It hit me like I was discovering something for the first time but knew I'd been there before. Exact place down to the rocks..Still creepy when I think about it.

My high school dream is a little different than the standard skipping class. I don't even know how often I have the dreams anymore to be honest but it's been very consistent for a period of years now that in these dreams my high school classmates and I are off at college now. Yet for some reason we're having to come back to high school after graduation and start over freshman year again due to our guidance counselor fricking up all of the students curriculum path so even though we "graduated" and had our graduation ceremony - we technically never graduated according to the school. And somehow we were all admitted to college in the process as well and now we're freshman in college and high school at the same time.
I truly don't get how dreams work sometimes

I've had the same dreams but something I've read referring to this and deja vu is about false memories. Your brain is able to create a false memory that you are sure you experienced. I'd swear I had one of those recurring dreams the other night, but supposedly your brain is just telling you you've had it before. When you get high and start thinking about how your brain tells you what reality is, and how much if it could be false, it gets a little nervy

Cool. First time I've ever seen someone put a name to the phenomenon.

Just wait til your approaching retirement and still get the "I've been skipping this class all year, and now it's inevitable that I'm going to fail the course" dream.
I have a variation of that dream weekly.
Yes, know that dream well, but it's more specific. It's always Lockett for a midterm or final and I can't find the right classroom.

I have a similar one. I graduated along time ago so we had paper schedules, not online. I dream that I register for classes and lose my schedule before the semester starts.
I can't remember all of classes that were on my schedule so don't know where to go to class for 1 or 2 of them. I can't drop them because I don't even know what the classes are so, I know I'm going to fail them.
