Interesting that Indians seem to be the only foreigners taking advantage of it

My experience is that they try to charge you more than the listed price.

The gas stations/convenience stores down here are owned by people from Yemen. The motels are owned by Indians who also have pizza places and burger joints, even the subway is owned by Indians, who knows what else. Oh, the liquor store.
They offered the right money and the locals sold out and they moved in.
They do get tax breaks but they have to transfer their business within the company and move for a while before they can come back and resume or some weird shite like that. It’s a system but they have it down pat and are making bank. I haven’t had any problems with them though, I’m just glad there are places to get things when we need them in a small area with no other options.

It is legit. I use to sell coffee to a shitload of hotels and I had several customers tell me the same thing.
They're always named Patel.

Contrary to popular belief Patel is NOT the “Smith of India”. They all come from 1 single state in India, where it is common. It’s not common outside that state though.

Earlier I mentioned one Indian family owns all the gas stations in my hometown, their last name is Patel.

I have heard rumors that some Indians change their name to Patel when they move here…

Also, they must buy all of the old candy and candy bars from legit places that replaced their old stock because almost every chocolate candy bar has all the signs of having melted, and then solidified again.
Don’t ever buy candy from a store like that.

If they do have prices listed, the price at the register is higher
Posted on 8/17/25 at 10:08 pm to MemphisGuy
It is dumb, but there are at least 23 retarded people that upvoted it that believe it.
After COVID, a number of places stopped posting prices because the prices kept going up from the suppliers, and it was a pain to keep up with. The simplest explanation is usually far more likely to be correct than whatever BS conspiracy theory idiots dream up here.

Except all other gas stations that I visit have the prices posted.
Maybe you aren’t paying attention?

Indian immigrants don't pay taxes on “investment income" in the United States per article 21 of the united states-india tax treaty(1989). The intended purpose was to prevent double taxa

The places they own now were owned by older folks who were glad to get out with the right offer and they took it. These aren’t businesses many are interested or can afford messing with. Those folks took a big chunk of change and walked away. It’s sad but at least we don’t have a bunch of empty buildings sitting around.

In my area I know which ones are Indian ran and I will not go there.

This is an excuse.
