I honestly don't have a problem with the income limit. What I do have a problem with is if people already subsisting on taxpayer dollars, who are under zero threat to their government provided income, also get these checks.

I love the sentiment in this thread that a family making over 100k per year are considered the "takers"
Two people making $50,000 each are two people who probably should have paid more attention in school.

I do. Its a crock of shite. If you're gonna give it to "everyone" then give it to everyone. and quite frankly, $1000.00 isn't going to do much if this goes on for much longer.
So its basically a big waste of tax payer money

people are going to get mad about this but there's no easy, perfect way to distribute a stimulus to 320 million people. there's no playbook for this and all things considered, i think trump is doing a pretty good job

Latest proposal is that you will get a check if you made under $99K.
$75K-$99K just wouldn’t receive as much as those who made less then $75K.
Also talking about issuing $1200 instead of $1000.
That's more like it. 75K will get you a 3 BR house in Mississippi and it will get you a closet in the tenderloin district in San Fran.

Right, but how does it make sense that a couple with a gross AGI of 149k gets a 2k check and a couple that makes 150.001k gets nothing?
Like I said, I think it's dumb. The government wants this done so quickly (by government standards) that they have no time to assess the impacted.
Also, 150k in Seattle is a hell of a lot less than it is in Pine Bluff.

Then run for office if you could do better.

This is such a great representation of the OT.
People making $75k or $150k combined income are poor, leeches, and “shitting” out kids they can’t afford.

they need a floor more than a ceiling. if you are on unemployment or SS then you shouldn't be getting a check.
Why is that? Anyone who is on unemployment, Social Security or disability buys good and services. This stimulus package is more about propping up the economy then individual Americans paying their bills. The best way to do that is to give everyone money to spend. Additionally, why should someone who has worked for years and paid taxes but has reached retirement, lost a job or been injured be penalized? We are all in this together.

in other income threads everyone says 100k is upper middle class
It's not that terribly far off for a married couple. Consider that 48.5k for a family of 4 is middle class.

My issue with this is that POTUS announced that ALL Americans will be getting money before he laid out the plan. If he goes back on his word, then people will be upset.
I’m not sure but I want to say there are 2 packages. 1 is a straight economic stimulus package planned before covid19, 1 is a covid19 package.

So now they get 10k tax returns and now throw in another 3k. Merica
I dont qualify it would be nice to get something since my wife maybe out of work at the end of the month if this Corona keeps going. Oh well I guess I am used to it.

Also, think it's absurd that non-earners would get money that they haven't missed.

Yes. Both my wife and I are on disability. We should be part of this.
