It’s strange but if you grab an old man you may get a surprise strong response. His grip may be damn strawnk, if he grabs you , you may not get away. Or, you hit him solid a few times and he keeps coming. You may say I can’t get this wrench to turn this nut or bolt and he grabs it, grunts, and gets it going. It’s ole man stremf…

This isn’t prevalent in New Orleans. They seem to be lacking.

“Old Man Strength” comes from actually doing manual, busting arse labor for 40 years and looking like a normal person.

No, it comes from having to hand crank yourself when the wife doesn’t want any.

Old man strength is an extension of young mans strength.

If you were not strong before, you won’t be now.

To have old man strength, you had to have young man strength.

No, it comes from when your own son tries to out-man his father and you have this super rage strength that comes out and shows him who's alpha.

It’s usually men who were always strong but just don’t look the part after 40

The guy in a BJJ class that is about 50 but looks like he is about 75 cause he was rode hard and put up wet since a teenager. Made it to at least E7 in the Army/USMC or was a LEO for 20+. Heavily tatted. Is a Purple/maybe a Brown Belt but not a Black cause he just got into jits about 6-7 years ago since he got out of the suck. Has cauliflower ears.

This is the definition of who has "old man strength" and is the last mother fricker you would ever want to frick with.

Tenacity.

And most sons who challenge their dads or even young bucks against a rando old man clam up when the old timer starts going berserko on them. Partly out of surprise and partly because they suddenly realize they are fighting an elder and dial the aggression back a notch. It’s not natural and the younger guy will quit way sooner than the older man. The older man just has more tenacity in most of those situations.

respect for one's life & the dependence one's family has on that life >>> the perceived invincibility of youth.
When the chips are down and flight is not an option, the production rate of a forty-five year old adrenal gland is astonishing.

I’m 42 now. Bought a house with 100 acres and a couple of horses about 5 years ago and I can tell you that will kick in the old man strength in a hurry. I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been

I don’t think you can have old man strength if you’ve never had any strength at all.

Old man strength is pretty much your ‘ain’t as good as I once was, but I’m as good once, as I ever was’.

All this.

Also, after a major exhibition of "old man strength", it's common to hurt for the next 3 or 4 days. You just can't tell anyone about it. Admitting pain will diminish the strength capacity.
