"Why can't American flight attendants...." : UNIONS. I've flown Japanese Airlines several times & they are all petite, cute & polite. Son lives there : NO UNIONS. I watched a ground crew, 10 +, lined up doing exercises led by an individual. Jumping jacks, pushups, squats. Landed back in Long Beach, boarded American Airlines, & watched 3 attendants have trouble walking down the aisle, too wide.
