Summary: Asian guy watches an instructional stir fried rice video done by a white lady....makes video response in character with an Asian stereotype voice....people go bonkers over the cooking method and shame the woman cook.
Not the best article but Im not linking the CNN one
Bad Rice
Remember this exact thing happening when some a-hole out of state posted a piss poor crawfish boil how to video.

Described as an award-winning presenter and filmmaker by the BBC Food website, Hersha Patel cheerfully prepared an Egg Fried Rice recipe for BBC Food, oblivious to the many crimes she was about to commit.
In his reaction video, Nigel Ng, aka “Uncle Roger,” attacks her at almost every step:
“Why you measure water with cup? Just use finger... not with British tea cup.”
“Wait, so you don’t wash the rice... Now the rice stinky, like you!”
“How can you drain rice with colander? This is not pasta... If your rice too wet, you f*cked up.”
“Why you running water through ri-- (cough, cough)? You ruining the rice!”
Online commenters piled on the outrage, with one saying, “As an Asian, that woman should be fined for making people think this is what we do.” And another goes, “what IS THIS ABOMINATION!”
quote:
In fact, the real culprit here is BBC Food which doesn’t bother to give context to this recipe—that it’s a Chinese-style fried rice dish that uses an Indian rice cooking method—confusing us instead. It’s just another example of how Western food media tends to jumble up diverse culinary origins into a vaguely “Asian” category.

Well, how was the rice?

OMG Who the hell cares?!
Posted on 8/3/20 at 10:53 am to DomincDecoco
Sounds like Nigel Ng has too much time on his hands and needs to get a life.

These are the things that make me wish the internet was never invented.

The video itself isn't bad. Its just some kid doing a reaction video. But WTF on her rice technique.
The fact that this is "newsworthy" is the ridiculous part.

Asians are white- adjacent, therefore it's acceptable to lump them in with white people when addressing racial or ethnic grievances.

To be fair, the Uncle Roger video was pretty funny, and was meant to be. People just take shite too serious these days.

They're just trying to make a story about race and culture tension anywhere they can so they can get clicks

Seems fair to me. If some yankee had a cooking show and was fricking up a crawfish boil recipe, you know damn well S. LA would be on his arse.

There must be more important things to get upset about.

Basically Asian man makes video making fun of an Indian woman who cooks rice in a more traditional Indian way and the article somehow finds a way to blame white people.

Since Indians are by definition Caucasian, she actually is a white lady.

We act even worse when someone boils crawfish the wrong way and puts seasoning on the outside.
