Have you listened to Whiskey Myers? Some of their songs are better than Skynyrd.

I'll listen to some Whiskey Myers. New band for me. That they are even mentioned in a Lynyrd Skynyrd thread says they must be at least some good.

Luv me some Skynyrd. Such an amazing and talented band. Their live precision is unmatched. And Ronnie was a class act.
Ronnie was a slave driver, but that's what made them great, particularly live. Sometimes the band loved him for it, other times they hated him for it. One thing is for sure, though, they were going to work their asses off.

Diehard fan here, but Steve Gaines was the next level step for them. Could have become lead vocals.
gaines without out hat, van zant with hat, Steve Gaines vocals throghout but guitar at 2:55 LINK

Aerosmith decided not to use that plane. I wish Skynyrd had passed on it, as well.
I have visited the crash memorial in Mississippi. Well done tribute.

They felt bad after the crash. They talked them into using it. It said it was to be their last use of the plane. A terrible loss.

Definitely agree that Freebird video was GOAT live version I've seen, and there was not one bra to be found in the stadium that day.

Ballad of a Southern Man
They are no Skynyrd but are pretty damn good. Start off with the song I linked above. You will definitely get a Skynyrd vibe from it.

The fact Van Zant basically bullied them into spending months out at the river house rehearsing relentlessly to get every song down to perfection.
It’s called going to work and doing ur job.

Ronnie giving a big frick you to the Stones by getting the boys out on the front stage for Knebworth is one of the coolest Freebirds, or any song, ever.
That was awesome and Mick knew he couldn't do nothing about because Ronnie would have beat the snot out of him

So why don't you kindly inform us of who did it better than Skynyrd?

Them ole southern boys didn't give a shite. Lets just jam.
I've always liked the longer songs that would have minutes of just going back and forth.
Outlaws: Green grass and High Tides. LINK
Steely Dan - "The Royal Scam"
Pink Floyd – “Echoes”
Led Zeppelin – “Achilles Last Stand”

Actually, there are lot of retro bands that di make that kind of music. And it's good but it's just a copy so while it's CO contemporary, done by young kids, it's old and boring.

Oakland 77 was better

Whole lotta super hot grannies the audience.

I have read several books on them and there is a story of the Getty grandson that was kidnapped in Italy, years later at the festival in London, he had heard that Ronnie was a big fan of Jack Daniels and challenged him to a drinking contest….of course Ronnie prevailed lol.

I've always wondered why the song wasn't "Sweet Home Florida" since that is where the band is from.

See Neil Young, Southern Man.
They just said people were always nice to them when they played Alabama, so they wrote a song about it.
