on AXSTV. I'm an old rock and roller. They're showing interviews and old clips. They don't make music like that anymore.

One joker DV'd this. If you don't like it or are to young to appreciate good music then just move on.

There’s a pretty good one on Netflix also. Might be the same one.

Don’t have AXST. Is there a link? I’d watch it.

The GOAT live performance

This was only a few months before the crash and it has it all.
Billy Powell with the Bud heavy on top of the piano, Allen Collins playing his arse off, Steve Gaines, and hot 70’s broads with no bra’s.

Love me some Skynyrd.

Ronnie giving a big frick you to the Stones by getting the boys out on the front stage for Knebworth is one of the coolest Freebirds, or any song, ever.

1977, the Saturday of a long 4th of July weekend. Billy Powell, killing it on the piano, after 10 years as a glorified roadie desperately wanting to be a member of Skynrd before Van Zant heard him play the piano version of the song and hired him as their keyboard player. 12 minutes of the pure greatness of Free Bird before it was FREEEE BIRRDD.

California sunshine. Loose arse 70's girls. Loose arse clothing.

Them ole southern boys didn't give a shite. Lets just jam.

I've always liked the longer songs that would have minutes of just going back and forth.

Outlaws: Green grass and High Tides. LINK
Steely Dan - "The Royal Scam"
Pink Floyd – “Echoes”
Led Zeppelin – “Achilles Last Stand”

The only crack smokers I know in 2022 stay off the Brickyard road Dude I worked with and his roommates My mom plays pickleball at Ronnie Van Zant park a couple times a week, weather permitting. Growing in downtown Skynyrdville and going to bama really burnt me out on them in my teens and early 20s, but I've really comeback around on them in my 30/40s.

His story is awesome.

FWIW we lost more than a few Southern Rock hits when Steve Gaines died in that crash. If he lived who knows what old rock songs we’d consider classics now.

I agree. Now I'm scrolling through songs on YouTube when I should be unwinding and going to sleep. Dammit.

But worth it.

Do You Feel Like We Do (live) - Peter Frampton
2112 - Rush
Mountain Jam (live) - Allman Brothers Band

Same here. The netflix documentary in 2018 really gave me a whole new appreciation for them. The fact Van Zant basically bullied them into spending months out at the river house rehearsing relentlessly to get every song down to perfection.

And They are even better when you hit your 50's

Sad but cool story bro. My parents had tickets to the BR show. The plane went down the night before a few miles from my grandmothers family home outside of Liberty, MS.

She was actually there the night of the crash, and was coming back to BR that day to babysit my brothers and I so that my parents could go to the concert. She called that morning on her way out of Mississippi saying she she would be heading our way as soon as her brothers and my grandpa returned home after helping out over at the crash site. She had no idea who it was.

He and Collins both were/are amazingly underrated.

Have you listened to Whiskey Myers? Some of their songs are better than Skynyrd.

The greatest Skynyrd moment ever:

Ronnie said, "frick yo shitty tongue, Mick!" and commenced to absolutely destroy the joint.

Luv me some Skynyrd. Such an amazing and talented band. Their live precision is unmatched. And Ronnie was a class act.

I'll listen to some Whiskey Myers. New band for me. That they are even mentioned in a Lynyrd Skynyrd thread says they must be at least some good.
