Do y'all think the grass is gonna come back if we ever get rain again? Or is it actually dying?

I’ve managed to keep mine alive but I’m about done with car note sized water bills.

If it is non-native turf grass that isn't very drought tolerant, maybe not. If it is a more natural lawn with native grass that can take the heat and drought it will green up after the first hint of rain.

i have young kids and dogs, not having grass in my backyard is not an option.

I've been watering mine 4 times a week. Jokes on me, it still looks like shite. A little rain isn't going to fix this.

If it dies, it dies.

I'm so sick of cutting mine in the heat that I really don't care of my grass dies.

I don’t think I’ve had to cut mine but 5-6 times all year. St. Aug and Centipede are completely brown and dried out. Small amount of Bahia I have is apparently immortal.

I adjusted my sprinkler settings this morning thinking i was changing the time they would come on. My wife calls me at work and tells me the sprinklers been on for like 4 hours. I was like wtf and told her to go cut the sprinklers off in the panel. I have RING cameras i can verify they ran for 4 hours. Well on the bright side my grass will be green but probably going to hate my water bill because i am not on a well. Fml

It looks like no rain for Baton Rouge over the next 10 days and highs around 105 starting Tuesday through next Sunday.

we threw in the towel. it's pointless. watering an hour a week for the trees. we'll switch the yard to more native stuff next year. frick massive water bills and trying to keep grass alive in 105 degree heat for 60 days.

We've been watering the front for 45 minutes each evening. It's quite green. Our backyard is dead though.

I’ve got St Aug and mine looks fine. When it started to get hot and dry I quit cutting it to 2.5 inches and let it get to 4 inches. The extra height protects it from heat.
It’s been nice only having to cut it every 9 or 10 days. Normally at this time of year I’m cutting it every 6 days.
