Not even his song. It’s a cover. Learned that today.

This kinda ruined my weekend when I found that out.

Don’t overthink it man. You’re not too cool to sing like a fool, clap or dance in good fun. I promise you’re not. It’s ok. It’s only a song. You seem insecure. Good luck.

The amount of BR/Louisiana people claiming that a money grab Garth Brooks concert was some transcendental amazing experience speaks volumes about why the state is dead last in every quantifiable metric.

We had a great day at the baseball game and the concert. You got some balls shitting on that experience.

Eta: can some of the downvoters explain why this is a good song? It’s a generic redneck song which has basically nothing to do with Louisiana. “Yonder come my kin folk…” no one here talks like that.

It’s better than that gay yodeling queer country opera crap Calling Baton Rouge. Motherfricker was probably singing about his boyfriend he met in Coates Hall

Same. I know it has become an unofficial alma mater, but it is by god awful - on the same cornpone hick level as Rocky Top.

Did Garth write any of his songs? He's an entertainer - I mean does he even play that guitar that he strings around his neck at concerts?

They could have chosen the "New Grass Revival" version, and I'd be happy. Worst part of LSU game is this song, knowing that I should be listening to John Cowan, Bela Fleck, Sam Bush..LINK

I feel like I’m the only person in Baton Rouge that never listened to Garth Brooks

I know who he is, obviously, but I know very little of his music and I otherwise love 90s/00s country. Not sure why he slipped through.

Might be my age. Most of my friends that went last night are late 30s/early 40s. I’m 31, and was more of the Tim McGraw/Kenny Chesney/Brooks and Dunn persuasion.

Not a fan of Callin Baton Rouge at games, but also not a fan of when they play Eye of the Tiger, so it could just be a result of them beating the songs to death. I actually think Born on the Bayou would be freakin awesome.

Did George Strait write a single one of his hits or were they all written by Dean Dillon?

And Garth plays solo for about 20 minutes at every concert. He does various covers and takes requests(I think those are plants). He's definitely not playing when running around the stage singing.
