If you've ever seen the environment that chickens who produce eggs for places like Wal-Mart are kept in then you'd know there is a 0% chance any of the eggs would get fertilized

Walmart

Where the hell do you find a Walmart anywhere near Dupont? This is a clear case of where walking to Sunday's market is just less hassle.

Edit: Just saw that a Supercenter opened right down Mass Ave. I clearly need to get out more.

Chickens don't need fertilization for eggs but cows do need to get pregnant to milk

Strangely enough I never thought about that until I was way past grown.

Back when I lived in DC, going to a Walmart was a big trip. Like a rurual person going shipping in the city. They may have a neighborhood walmart or something now.

I use to order all non-food items online and just use the grocery store for everything else.

The rooster fertilizes the egg before the chicken pops it out.

I feel this is unusual. I've heard people cracking eggs and a bird falling out but this is strange. Hard crystallized egg. I'm not buying this brand any more.

So much misinformation.

Commercial eggs are layed by chickens without roosters. Since roosters do not lay eggs and egg laying breeds of roosters are scrawny things, feeding and housing them is not economical. No rooster -no chick.

The hard part of egg shells is calcium carbonate. The amount of this varies over time, from chicken to chicken, from breed to breed, but mostly from the chicken's food. Commercial chicken rations are formulated to meet chicken health, egg production, and egg quality as cheaply as possible. Commercial chicken egg shells are generally not as strong as free ranged chickens. Many reasons, this egg will not be sat on, people don't eat the shell, and why waste calcium beyond what is needed to get the egg from the farm to your frying pan. A free range chicken will eat as many pebbles, worms, and snails as they can find. Your egg probably just had more calcium.

As far as the brand, silly. Every egg is an individual biological event. Every egg is unique. Buy the cheapest eggs available and inspect them for cracks before buying.
