I’m hooked on spelunking videos but they give me extreme anxiety.

I tend to NOT get hooked on things that give me extreme anxiety.

But the hook is to see if the tiny passageway leads to a big room with beautiful crystals and rare rock formations.

I feel the same way. I had nightmares when those kids got trapped in that cave in Thailand. I don't know how those divers got through to them with balls that big. As I get older, those fears seem to increase. When I think of the things we did as teenagers... So I don't think about it and rarely watch such videos.

I did a little 20 years or so ago and water elevated the stakes immensely. I was wading chest-deep across a small room then had to climb up some scree to a small hole them slide through into another room filled with water. I decided then I was done.

The coolest part was turning off our headlamps and experiencing true darkness.

I am not clicking on that video. Just thinking about that gives me anxiety. So does peering over a cliff or walking out on a beam on a skyscraper. Hard nope for me.

I feel like this could be found out with some type of remote control robot first before attempting it in person

I watched a YouTube video on this incident last night. I started watching and as soon as the narrator showed the disposition of his body (upside down) in the narrow crevice and he said he breathed out to advance forward, I said to myself, "I'm out", and turned the video off. I knew what happened next.

And of course I woke up at 3 in the morning last night having a nightmare about this story.

What a terrible way to go.

Not all caves are tight, and we bring plenty of light ;)

A few pics of us in a popular local underwater cave:
