I feel like the natural continuation of this is

"And sometimes when a man and a woman get married and they really love each other, they have a baby."

On the Op's side, I can't help but think that after ten years and no wedding, the news that he doesn't want to marry her can't be that big of shock.

You're thinking about this matter logically. How many women do you know who set aside emotion and use logic when it comes to things like this?

I'm sure there was a small voice of doubt in the back of her head. But I also bet she chose to ignore that voice and instead hope that one day he'd actually marry her.

I tend to do that. The ability came with the penis.

Over under on how many friends/family members she calls, devastated, with the news and they respond with some form of "Ya think?".

Well, he invalidated the assumption 90% of this board made.

I'd say probably about 90% of them.

Same here. That's just how we're wired. We men are problem solvers. Well how do you solve problems? you have to use logic. Women on the other hand are historically care givers. How do you do that? Logic is not much use there, instead you use emotion. I know it's popular nowadays to try and pretend there is no difference between the sexes. But the truth of the matter is that there are huge differences. And high on that list of differences is that we men tend to look at matters from a logical standpoint while women tend to look at them from an emotional standpoint.

Bull. fricking. shite. As someone who was engaged and didn't get married, I can tell you that not all women are going to sit in the corner cry into Ben & Jerry's. Sure, she'll be upset. But she'll get over it. She'll realize it's better to be broken up with than be with someone who doesn't want to be with you.

Again, better to find out now than after the fact. Jesus Christ, she's ending an engagement not her fricking life.

Sucks. I hate it. 10-year relationship. Engaged with no set date; we were discussing June and July next year. She wants to be married and have a baby. I do not want to marry her. This is not panic, I have been thinking about this for a while now. I am telling her tonight. She will be devastated.

Any sincere advice or words of wisdom are appreciated.

Don't be a baby... suck it up and marry her. There are people in 3rd world countries that sleep on dirt floors and have marauding warlords invade their villages, raping and pillaging. Just marry her. Do you honestly believe you deserve better?

I had no idea this would blow up quite like this. I didn't mean to op and run...just got busy.

I don't want to divulge all the personal info but we got engaged in May of last year. There is not someone else (not another dude either for you jokesters out there). Also, while I do have friends irl that post here she does not touch this place or have any interest in the stuff that is posted here. She has read some in the past and thinks this place is retarded.

To the OP. You will regret it. The only thing clouding your judge.ebt is that yall weren't in a committed marriage. If so, you would see her differently. She gave the large rpart of her life to you and you never committed and bow you're cheating! No doubt about it!

You are a douche and deserve the bad things you will endure from here on out.

Either all that or she's one ugly beotch.

Agreed.
All women have to look forward to is getting married and bearing children.
He just took that away from her after 10 years, and now her best options will be some accountant who has a weird anime fetish with the genetics of a midget walrus.
