Have I suggested there is some sort of justifiable reason to blame cops or white folks for any of this? If anything I've made it very clear it is human nature and no one should apologize for it. This all started because a guy made a post saying it is better to be black in this country than it is to be white. That is simply untrue and we all know it.

Apparently. For the sake of brevity I left it pretty blunt and plain
I tried that as well before and have since learned to pose it the way I did, then people can't deflect, and generally have no good answers.

This. I don't apologize for it either. I just thank God that I was born an American first and foremost, and a white American at that. Understanding you have it better than others, however insignificant you think that gap may be, shouldn't be as hard as people make it.
Hit the nail on the head.
You're going to have it better in a variety of theaters in American society (any society really) based on race/sex/ethnicity/lack of disability/socioeconomic class. The class part of that list is the biggest catalyst in folks making it or not. I don't care what race you are.
People get so bogged down in stupid skin color talk and neglect the bigger picture.

Truth. I'd rather be rich than white.

Yeah, lesson learned. I mean someone tried to argue that he wouldn't change because he is content with who he is and it has nothing to do with race. How dense can you be?

, but isn't this question a small example of what I was discussing with Puck? You've suggested removing all black people from BR, not just the criminals, which are far less than the majority. Someone earlier said that the majority of black people are on welfare, which is false.
You're reaching. I never said that the majority of blacks are criminals. I'm completely aware of the fact that most blacks are law abiding citizens and are not on welfare. Judging from this statement
quote:you get my ultimate point, which has nothing to do with a poor black kid being stereotyped as a criminal or making it out of the hood as you have thrown in.
You're 100% correct.

I tied your point into mine. We can't throw the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak.

Rephrase it then. Do you think being black in this country is better than being white?
Even then I'm still trying it to my experience and knowledge as a white person. Can I keep my values in tact while being black? Because if so, sign me up. I could gain competitive employment positions based solely off my skin color. Also, because I'd be so outside the "norm" for black culture, I'd be championed and respected much more than I am as a normal, typical white guy. All things considered, I'd move to the suburbs, be the token black guy in successful white crowds, ignore the "Uncle Tom" comments from other black people, and profit off my blackness.
But that's the point isn't it? I don't live in a bubble where I blame everyone else for my lack of success. I don't particiapte in group think and buy into a theory of victimization, when clearly employment laws and violent crime statistics prove otherwise. I can clearly see the opportunity presented right in front if I were black if I only act according to the law, graduate high school and/or college, and learn a profession/trade. If I do those things as a black person, I'm actually valued above white people in society and the job market.

You shoulda asked would you trade the way you're treated in every single daily interaction you have for the way the average black person is treated
You sound as if you believe this question is fair, but it inherently isn't. You're asking me to trade my daily interaction (which is influenced by my entire life's choices, i.e. if I have visible tattoos, how I dress, how I speak, how I carry myself, my manners, what car I choose to drive, etc. etc.) vs. an average black person's interaction.
A better question is whether they would trade an average white person's interaction vs. an average black person's, and even this is hard to quantify. If I had to pick one or the other definitively, I would choose the white person's interaction, but it still isn't a good question at all in my opinion.

That's what I wonder, how much guilt and self-loathing does one have to have to feel the need to join with these jackasses.

Dude should have gotten out and whipped that snowflake's arse and then watched him cry for help.

I just don't understand the "white guilt" phenomenon. I am white and I never had slaves. I don't know anyone who had slaves. Why should I feel guilty for something I was never a part of? At it's peak, only 6% of people actually owned slaves. So 100% of white people are supposed to feel bad about something, at max, 6% did a couple hundred years back? I just don't get it. Of course that's probably just my "white privilege" talking though.

Taking white guilt back to slavery is ridiculous, as is white guilt in general. There should be no guilt, but just because something is out of your control doesn't mean it is non-existent. The grandparents of many black people in their 20-30s went to segregated schools. As recently as 1959, 55% of black people lived below the poverty line. That isn't ancient history, and when more than half of your race lives in poverty, you're going to have a pretty tough time crawling out of that hole. That rate was cut in half by 2014. Since 1973, the poverty rate for every race has increased except blacks. Just because it isn't your fault doesn't mean the race as a whole hasn't had to come from much, much farther behind in the last 55 years.

They have people who come from much much worse circumstances and make it all the time. Be it black, white, Asian, etc... This is America. If you want to make it here you can. It just takes hard work. I'm tired of people playing the victim all the time!
