I know what you're saying but your arguments amount to determinism and hopelessness - or excuses for poverty and a lack of good outcomes. Carried to the point of absurdity it also applies to things like height in males and beauty in women that are also not self-determined and also have effects on the way you are treated. But short men and ugly women do not have license to give up on their lives.

That is the most damaging thing about the modern rhetoric about race. If you believe you are a victim and the system is stacked against you then you have a couple of built in reasons not to succeed.

If you come from an African country as an immigrant and believe you are in a land of opportunity your positive outlook will be a major determining factor in your success. We can understand race, gender, appearance, etc have effects on our outcomes without abandoning the central belief in personal responsibility that is most helpful and important in life.

I have to be honest, I paid little attention to BLM until after Alton Sterling was shot. At some point I thought the "movement" would just fizzle out, but when I saw how they painted the picture of what happened to Sterling I realized they had enough influence to get people out and protesting.

They didn't care why Sterling was shot, they didn't care about the fact he was illegally selling CDs, they didn't care he was illegally carrying a gun, resisted arrest even after he was tased twice and then while on the ground was reaching for his gun, which is when he was shot.. Which was done in self-protection. All they were interested in is another name to add to their list.

They were out protesting in Dallas and while the police were out protecting their right to do so, they were ambushed and 5 police were killed.

In Baton Rouge, people from all around the country came to protest and I believe what brought Long here to shoot our police was the attention BR was getting from the Sterling shooting. So I think its fair to say BLM is at least indirectly responsible for the death of 8 police within less than 2 weeks.

Also, the fact that they do not address the fact that 90% of blacks killed are killed by other blacks (84% of whites are killed by other whites). I know it seems like a race issue, but I don't look at it that way. There are many whites who support BLM and there are blacks who do not.

Either way, I think this group needs to redefine itself and I do not think its a good look for any politician who does support them as they are. Just my take on it.

No offense, but you are getting destroyed in this argument.

Judged by what, downvotes? On a topic like this I consider that a blessing.

Again, in my opinion skin color does not matter nearly as much as you think if you control for poverty and family support.

If I wasn't on mobile I'd try to find the studies that do just that. I should have them in a bit though.

I'd rather be rich than poor and smart than dumb. Knowing the numbers, I'd also rather be white than black. And I'd rather be rich than white.

At a bare minimum, answer this - if you know nothing of the family dynamics you'll be born into, just that you'll be born white or black in 2016, which are you choosing if you want the best chance for financial success?

I'll answer your question despite your repeat avoidance of my clear cut questions.

White

But not because of skin color or racism. But because of the statistics of single family homes and lack of education that I am aware of.

Again, when controlling for poverty blacks are 3x more likely to have a single parent home. Why?

You would rather be rich than white? That's all? Just rich?? No ethnicity, gender, persuasion of any sort??? Just as long as you're rich? Maybe you could get your tranny ops with your riches.

What studies are you going to cite? The one that sent out similar resumes to companies only difference being race... And whites go more interviews?

Why don't you submit similar applications of blacks and whites to college campuses or a medical school and see the rates at which minorities are selected over white males. And that is sponsored by the government!

Dont bring that bullshite it here

That is the crux of my argument from page one. I never argued there is some widespread racism factor. I'm attacking a post that suggested it is better to be black than white in this country and that is patently false. Conceding that most of the problems come from within doesn't change the truth of the statement that being born white is better than being born black.

I think the crux of your statement is being born with a good family that values education is better than one that doesn't. Whether that be a white, black, pink family, it really doesn't matter...It really isn't about race, it's about values

It's not the only part, but sure. However, when one or two races are much more likely to be born into that situation, race now matters. Those kids can grow up and break the cycle, but they're behind the 8 ball from jump street.

So then what exactly are the other parts if that isn't the only part? And how exactly isnt someone who imigrates here, who doesn't fluently speak the language, behind this imaginary 8 ball you speak of?

Being part of the majority in general is the other part. Conscious or not, you have a foot in the door so to speak.

Someone who doesn't speak English has a problem too, but a person who finds the means to get here is obviously very determined and often intelligent. They're not indicative of an entire population.

Your argument proves nothing other than the fact that there is a higher percentage of poor blacks than poor whites. And you continue to hint that this is due to some unfairness in the system.

Interesting. So someone who travels across the world and leaves everything they know behind has a better chance at making it than someone who lives here and has opportunities such as different college admission standards and affirmative action? And this is all because of the color of their skin? At what point do people have to take credit for their actions and culture and stop blaming literally anyone and everything else?

WTF does this even fricking mean?!?!? The metric frickton majority of them have never been to Africa and probably couldn't point it out on a map to save their life.

I guess I'm going to start screaming and raising hell that my ancestors are Irish and were also enslaved as well as Cherokee Indian and if ANY ONE SEGMENT of this nation actually has a claim to the bullshite these BLM asshats are spouting off about, it would be the American Indian population. They are the ones who were slaughtered so that this land could be taken over. They lost everything. And yet...do you see THEM showing their asses?

So fricking sick of this bullshite.

ETA: Turned the damn tv on right after posting that and "Straight Outta Compton" is on and at the part where they're performing "frick the Police."
