Chessies are awesome, but some of them can have a little bit of a mean streak. It is part of what they were bred for.

GSDs are special. Took owning one to figure that out. Ive had goldens, weenie dogs, mutts...nothing compares to a shepherd.

They learn your habits, body language, expressions, vocal inflections... They study the hell out of you.

shite I think Great Danes are the best??. I keep adopting them and they keep living to 11-13.

Our rescues that *looked* like small Great Danes have lived past 12 years.

But our larger (<120 Lb.) purebred Danes never make it past 8 years.

The companionship is unbeatable but the vet bills for older purebred Danes - and their early deaths - can really sting.

Still sad about the passing of an outstanding, giant purebred Dane over a year ago.

Labs have great personalities, too, but often suffer from debilitating skin allergies in my area.

Our vet recently euthanized a Lab for a skin infection so bad it was painfully killing the dog.

Agree 100% GSP’s are far better dogs than labs at all the same shite people love labs for. Including retrieving.

This is not true. A lab, chessie, or even a golden can make retrieves that would kill a gsp.
Labs were bred to retrieve and handle fishermans nets in the north atlantic ocean. Can your gsp do that?

Chessies were bred to retrieve under any conditions for guys that hunted for a living. They then pulled duty as guard dogs when they got back to camp. They are definitely a breed apart from a lab when it comes to aggression. Can your gsp do that?

Labs are perfect dogs if the owner treats them like a dog and isn't a dumbass. The problem is, most people are dumbasses and shouldn't own dogs. They feed them too much, treat them like humans, spoil and ruin them. You're probably one of those people since you think there is something wrong with the breed.

If you had had a chance to know a couple of mine you’d be singing a different tune.

Labs are great but yeah may be overrated, I've had a couple and don't want another one though

We had a couple of Lab-Cur crosses when I was a teenager. Great dogs who loved the water. I saw them drown a hog once

Labs are the most bastardized dogs out there. Vary greatly in size, shape, and aptitude. When you find a good pure bred stock, they are hard to beat! I have a British lab from Wild Rose kennels and she is by far the best dog I've ever owned.

as just a pet, yeah, i'd agree... but if they are trained as a hunting dog, etc, they are worth their weight in gold, apparently
