As if there is some magic in living in a coastal city.

And really, living in a homogenous area is not unnatural or backwards or weird. It’s the way most of the world is and has always been. It’s only liberals who see such places as inordinary, and they only see it in terms of white homogeneity. They either don’t realize or, more likely, don’t care how non-diverse most other countries are. There’s no pronounced effort to diversify Japan or Chad or Saudi Arabia. Is everyone in Tokyo stuck in a time capsule Bc Tokyo is full of ethnic Japanese?

I free that both groups live in a bubble. But to say neither understand each other is dishonest in my opinion. Only onebubble is portrayed on tv. Only one bubble is portrayed in movies.

People in the Midwest and south and in rural areas consume these media sources, and while it may not be 100% accurate as to what life is like on the coasts/urban centers, it’s a lot more accurate than what is portrayed about life in rural America.

People living in rural America are forced to see what life “is like” in urban/coastal America and in general the values espoused by a significant portion living there.

TV and movies do not accurately portray the day-to-day lives of normal people living in coastal areas. If that is what rural people are basing assumptions on, that only further illustrates the lack of understanding between the two groups.

these people, as stated numerous times in this thread, simply don't understand integrated, rural areas like in the South and Southwest. that is because of their racist liberal bubbles that exclude poor, minorities en large numbers. the pinnacle of this racist-bubble ideology is the center of progressivism: San Francisco

i still love the time this SJW in a FB group (social group, non-political. old e-friends) lost his frickING mind in a discussion about poor people and Walmart. i was picturing morbidly obese white trash when talking about their bad decision making and out of nowhere this coastal liberal just flips the frick out and accuses me of being racist. then he asks me if i've ever even met a black person before

uh, i have only lived in essentially 50/50 cities my entire life. i grew up in the black part of town of one of those cities. of course at that point he was "done with teh conversation"

Yeah, it's funny when those kinds of people tell me how I know nothing of other races despite the fact that I probably have more interactions with other races in a day than they probably have in 2 weeks.

Exactly. There are a lot more people who grew up in small towns that now live in big coastal cities than the other way around. Plenty of people in big and small towns live in bubbles. But if you had to pick, rural America is a bigger bubble simply because there isn’t much cross pollination. Hard to argue that.

New England and the Mid Atlantic are the so-called Coastal Elite regions. They know little to nothing about other parts of the country, unless they have traveled to those places numerous times.
