I guess Wichita is like an average small city.. Nothing that stands out and nothing that makes it incredibly bad either.
You haven’t even been yet, what a sh*t attitude. Good midwestern cities don’t need jaded tards like you. Gfy

A little east of there is Council Grove, where the Santa Fe Trail started. Some really beautiful vistas looking over the Flint Hills.
I think it's the most scenic area of KS in my opinion from having to travel there for work for 20 years.
Wichita isn't the worst place in the US to have to live by a long shot.

Old town is a great place for food/bars. Some great museums on the river. Usually a lot of music/comedy acts if you look depending on what you like.
Agree with everything Pedro has said. It sounds like you might be there for football season so you can go up and check out a K-State game. Won’t be like an SEC environment, but could still kill a Saturday. Royals will be awful, but they’ll have cheap tickets in KC. Cosmosphere and Yoder (Amish Town) are both good visits. Zoo is probably top 10ish in the country, craft breweries downtown, sister (no pics and married) works at the botanical garden so I recommend that for an hour or two. Usually festivals/events of some sort going on in the area. Chili cook-off in the fall.
I agree that it’s not going to meet the needs of someone who wants to go party every night, but there’s plenty to do and see I’m Wichita and within a drivable range that it’s probably not as awful as you might be expecting. There’s been quite a bit of development lately in the northeast part of the city, but not sure exactly what is up there now.

Carriage crossing (Yoder) might be the best restaurant in America.
Can’t believe I forgot the salt mine too. Took my parents to that a few months ago and it was dope.
Wife and I did engagement pictures at botanica. Probably saw your sis
ETA: was pleasantly surprised with k states atmosphere. Went for Nicholls game a couple years ago and they were into it the whole time, even while winning big

What part of this place looks "nice"?
It’s nicer than ever single comparable town in Louisiana

Old Town has some good bars. Coleman has an Outlet store in Old Town and it's also a museum on the history of the company.(Coleman is a Wichita company.)

If you're interested in wild West type stuff Dodge City has some interesting history and is like 2 hours or so away.

It’s a drive that feels like an eternity though.

Spent a summer in Wichita there wasn't a whole lot to do there. If you like bad storms it is an awesome place to be. The walls of dust are pretty cool. I remember bars closing at midnight

We drove up from Louisiana many times. I always enjoyed it; rolling hills, etc. We always went through Paris TX to avoid Dallas, and there were a lot of little towns with gazebos, etc. Definitely better than the 12 hour drives from Louisiana to Columbia MO that we’ve made in the last 7 years.

Ive been 45 minutes away from Witchita. Witchita is just like any city. It has a Twin Peaks. Im pretty sure there is an Indian Casino not too far from witchita & there is a bunch of chain resturants & stores.

I’m not talking Louisiana to Wichita. I don’t mind that one. Wichita to dodge is brutal.
