What the hell is in Kansas, let alone Wichita is there to do?
Would have preferred KC, but got this lovely place instead.
Am I going to be bored as frick and have to drive to KC and OKC for entertainment 85% of the time?
Basically what do folks do in this town during the summer and fall and will a tornado kill me in my few months there?
jesus some of yall suck dick and think every place is boring. I am sure there are plenty of restruants and other things to do there. and really how much time do you have a weekday to do anything anyways
but Solus, how old are you, are you single, kids? what are your interest?
Im sure there is decent golf, they already talked about the lake, if you are there in the spring, wichita state has baseball. If its fall, you are under 3 hours from norman, about 4 to lincoln, under 3 to KC.
they have a zoo, botanical gardens, plenty of museums, couple rivers to explore, plenty of good steakhouses etc
i mean everything doesnt have to be a freaking vegas trip, jesus

Visit key BTK locations and make a vlog about it.

BTW the New Orleans Zephyrs moved to Wichita. They're now the Wind Surge and are the Twins double A team now. Could definitely spend a few nights checking out some prospects if you're a baseball junkie.

this would be on my to-do list - one of the most interesting serial killers in history because of how long he was active, how mentally twisted he was, and how inept the cops were investigating those murders. Dude practically had to surrender to get caught!
Never heard of him. That's pretty cool. Not the murder but the story behind it

After 6 months in Wichita you should be a craft beer connoisseur and a ringer at throwing axes.

When I started with Koch I lived in Wichita for 2 months. Old town is a fun area, the jrnhl hockey team is entertaining. There’s a casino not far away. Lakes are nice.
But other than that the area is shitty. Or at least was.
Side note I met a girl at a bar there and thought she said she was an Obstetrician. She corrected me immediately and said she was an esthetician and that what I said wasn’t a thing.
So you got that going for you.

We drove through Wichita on our way back to Boise from visiting home.
We actually thought it seemed pretty nice and clean.

Why are you so agitated by randos on the interwebs?
But thanks for the recommendations. May have to catch an OU game too bad they aren't in the SEC yet.
I guess Wichita is like an average small city.. Nothing that stands out and nothing that makes it incredibly bad either.

Good luck. Will be honest, not a ton of things to do that haven't seen said. I grew up 30 miles north of Wichita. Lived in Wichita for a yr after college and moved to Houston in 1998.
Unless things changed, liquor stores are not open on Sunday. It used to be, they didn't sell beer either on Sunday at stores. Might have changed though. Not sure if they still have 3.2 beer (sold in convenience stores vs liquor stores).
If you play golf, try to find someone who is a member at Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson Kansas. One of the top golf courses in the country.
Find someone that grew up on a farm, and try your hand at working harvest. Might surprise you how it works.

Take some flight lessons. It’s the home of Textron Aviation (Cessna.)

As far as tornados, being in Wichita, KC, or OKC isn't going to make a difference. I live in OKC and grew up in Wichita just for reference.
Definitely WSU baseball, nice facility for a mid major. Theres also a double-A team in Wichita with a brand new stadium. They have a huge river festival in May. Plenty of golf around if you're into that. Outside of Wichita you are in close range to KC, OKC and Tulsa and are only 5 hours from DFW if a weekend trip is your thing.

Have lived in Wichita for 5 years. It’s not the most exciting place on earth but there are things to do.
Old town is a great place for food/bars.
Some great museums on the river.
Usually a lot of music/comedy acts if you look depending on what you like.
I’m not gonna try to talk it up like it’s a Mecca of entertainment but you kind find things to do on the weekends/weeknights if you look.
ETA: avoid the southeast corner of town like the plague.
