2026 dummy looks like he takes a comfortable nap.

1996 dummy’s head gets detached.

People bitch about new car prices (and some of it is rightly deemed ridiculous - pickups with the luxury features of Rolls Royce cars from just a few years ago, screens everywhere, hybrid and EV everything, etc.), but the reality is: All that government regulation and safety improvement does pay some dividends in some areas. This is one of them.

ETA: That must be one of the most fun jobs in the entire automotive industry. Crashing real cars together at speed.

This can’t be right. The OT told me everything about new cars is terrible.

The 86 would have less damage but the wreck would be worse on the driver of the 86.

New cars are designed to collapse because it takes away a lot of impact on the human body. If you have a wreck in an old steel beast your body takes the brunt of the force

I once drove a 1992 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup into the side of a 1983 Chevy Caprice. Chevy driver ran a red light, and I hit him around 25MPH--maybe a little less since I was standing on the brakes. Regardless, that '83 Chevy tank survived just fine. Some dents for sure, but my poor $7K truck suffered $5K in damages.

Of course, the Chevy driver had no insurance, and, as a poor college student, I didn't have anything but minimum liability limits. So, I got to pay out of pocket. OTOH, the Chevy driver had multiple outstanding warrants, so at least I got to watch him get hauled off in a police car.

They think all that metal on the old cars made them safe. Can’t convince them that the front end of the new cars is designed to crumple so you and your passengers don’t.

I've done that before. One star. Do not recommend.

Except the 2nd vehicle was a tree. Warped up my 96 z28 so bad the drivers side T-top flew out with rhe latches still engaged, the passenger side floor pan was on the ground holding the passengers side rear tire off the ground. To this day have short term memory problems, a slightly swollen right sinus due to scar tissue, and bottom row of teeth slightly pushed backward

Trick question

All those POS are too rusted-out to even move.

And if you could find one, it would fare worse, much worse.
