Cracker Barrel>>IHOP but surely there's a local greasy spoon joint that blows either out of the water. Non-chain truckstops usually serve an outstanding breakfast.

i don't do it often, but I do have to admit I like to go a Waffle Hut every now and then, mainly because you usually get some sort of show or entertainment to go with your meal. Drove through the night when my kids were younger to go on vacation in Destin. Made better time than expected and got there before dawn. Only thing open was a Waffle Hut so went there to get some breakfast before checking out sunrise on the beach. A drunk fellow in a suit was at a nearby booth. He had finished his meal but was obviously still hungry because he sucked the jelly out of all the little plastic tubs at his table, then turned up the ketchup bottle and sucked about half of it down. My kids thought this was highly entertaining. After he left I told the waitress she might want to change out the ketchup at that booth. She said I just filled all of them. Told her what happened, and she went and threw the bottle out.
Then we went to one in Gulfport where, as we had breakfast we watched some crazy lady who was barefoot and dressed only in an oversized T-shirt and panties wander around the parking lot.
Other places may have better breakfasts, but nobody can match the entertainment of a Waffle Hut.

There are no eggs at IHOP. They use batter to make eggs. I'll never eat in another one.
