My point is the author tries to make it seem like everyone in Hip Hop has a problem with IA. That is misleading and simply not true. It's a small percentage of artists who A. Have a problem with everyone who isnt constantly fighting the power (Michael Jordan, Dr. Dre, Jay Z, Will Smith) B. Who involve themselves in every controversy oftentimes embarrassing themselves because they jumped in without knowing the facts or C. Are hating because she selling more albums than they are

It turns out many people in the hip-hop community feel that Azalea is actively working against black interests because she appropriates traditionally black styles and totally divorces them from their political content.

Hootie divorced the Blowfish and stole white country sounds and styles, and I never once heard him endorse Wrangler's patented u-shaped crotch design that gives you more room where you need it most.

Just another example of the mentality among many blacks that not only do they want you to agree with them but if you happen to be black or want to be part of what some blacks deem to be "authentic" black culture, that means you have to adhere to the monolithic thought.

Basically, this chick attacking Iggy appears to be an awful human being.......IE, a flat out racist.

It's funny. Blacks want whites to be non racist and one would think that someone valuing the art you put out so much that they choose to have it influence their art would be a definitive step in the right direction.

INCLUDING blacks art into a diverse batch of thought really ought to be viewed as racial progress.

Isn't that true of every single hip-hop "artist" in the world? At least, all the ones you hear on mainstream radio.

Those idiots can't even spell culture, let alone give a frick about it. They're all pumping out garbage music with vile, offensive, racist, misogynistic lyrics and getting filthy rich off those stupid enough to buy it.

I don't even know what this means or why it would be a requirement of any artist.

the same people (tribe called quest, q-tip, Common, etc)( said the SAME thing about Eminem 15 years ago.

Snoozer.

Here is a FACT...

If white KIDS did't buy hip hop albums, hip hop would of died out in the 80's.

Is it wrong that this article makes me a fan of Iggy, even though her music is horrible?

Yea, because no black hip-hop artist has ever sampled others music. Cough, cough: Puff Daddy

How is this not applicable to every other mainstream hip hop artist, regardless of their skin color?

This.

No one alive today in the US owned slaves. It's time to stop using that as a crutch. Get off your arse, stand on your and merit, and stop claiming to be the victim and wanting special treatment because you are black.

Despite this article being retarded...Can we just all agree that her music is awful?

Honestly, some of the worst I've heard in years. She's a character. A white girl from Australia pretending to be a stereotypical black woman from a Houston hood. I'd be offended if I were a rapper like Kendrick, Kid Cudi and other rappers that are actually good, and Iggy wins a Grammy. Rap continues to die because of crap like this, while growing in popularity. Meanwhile artists with an insane amount of talent like jack white, while popular, would never be as famous as someone like Iggy. It annoys me.

I thought rap was invented by Jewish guys in the 70s and made popular by Blondie. Either way, the whole concept of "stealing music" is ridiculous. Black people who claim whites "stole" the blues seem to forget that white people invented the guitar, and melody and harmony, etc etc.

It's like saying Jackson Pollack stole from prehistoric cave-dwelling hominids.
