I don't think it's possible for me to disagree with the author of this piece any more than I do.

I don't watch tv much, so I thought she was black for a long time too.

And a few people doesn't equal a whole community. It sounds like people out of the limelight are finding reasons to attack someone in it. And Hip-Hop has sucked, by and large, since the late 90's anyways.

Wait, what?

That article is so ridiculous.

How many of those named peopel calling her out for stuff she hasn't done have also called out other black hip hop artists for not doing some of the same stuff? The answer is probably none, she's likely being singled out because she's white.

So you have to blindly support blacks to fit in?

I only read the quotes in the OP but can't decide which of any 5 lines are the worst.

From stealing black musical sounds to saying she hasn't done as much as one guy who tweeted "disgusting"

Kendrick Lamar called her out in his recent album. It was actually pretty funny.

Also, what does Ferguson have to do with hip hop culture?

Her songs and music are complete pop garbage, not true hip hop, at least not hip hop from the 90's. And when did being a hip hop artist mean you have to serve the black community and their struggles?

Let's cut throught the bullshite to see what this is really about. They don't like the added competition. Apparently they can't compete in the market place, so they are trying to throw up barriers.

It's not merely that.

It's they don't like a white, Australian woman being at the top of the food chain. If she were mid-level, no one would care. If she were at the top and black and never supported the cause, no one would care or say anything.

She doesn't owe black people, white people or the hip hop culture or anyone, for that matter, anything...and that's ok.
