I'm only 38. So $1mm + my $500k in savings wouldn't last long in Maine.

My net worth is currently a bit over $2 million. Planning on retiring at 50.

Healthcare in the US is the only thing that scares me. Have spoken with a few folks that have moved to other countries, including Mexico, and have never been happier.

Healthcare, property taxes, income tax, insurance, etc makes it harder and harder to want to be in this country if you’re worth anything.

Before or after taxes? That makes a bit of a difference. With all the costs associated with that, the million wont last long.

Invest the $1 million and live off interest and dividends.

I'm confused. Why would you have to move if you retired? Who is making you move if you don't work for anyone?

No. A million dollars isn’t what it used to be and at my age I wouldn’t be able to retire on just that.

Mexico, Maine is close to Mnt Washington and the Free State of New Hampshire. Hell yeah I'd go for that!

Something seems suspect here. What's with the Asian flight?

Not a fricking chance. Retire with 1 million in my early 40s? Laughable.
