Legalize marijuana and prostitution to increase tax revenue. I'd also try to bring in adult entertainment businesses like Vixen to establish BR as the porn industry capital east of the Rockies.

While I agree, Blue Bayou is in another parish.
I want a legit theme park like Cedar Point with a water park. I would settle for fiesta Texas, Jazzland was never good. I still wet to Astroworld more. At this point I go to Schliterbahn instead of Blue Bayou. I haven't been since they first added the slide with the toilet bowl drain(fun slide tho). I'd just rather drive to New Braunfels or Galveston and have a better quality park for the same price. (and just priceline a cheap 3-star)

You need to attract high paying industry/professional services or you can't enact meaningful change

Blue Bayou is in EBR.
Baton Rouge has been behind on building adequate roads and providing services for most of my life. Roads are built to accommodate traffic from 10-15 years ago.
While EBR has the highest tax rates, there is never enough money to do anything. The giant succubus that is NBR requires most of the revenue and pays the least in taxes. If it ceased to exist tomorrow, 60% of the police force could be let go. That alone is a substantial savings.
I do not know the answer or quick fix. It cannot be turned into two cities with each responsible for itself. If it was a business, the NBR arm would have been shut down years ago.

Try to get the 70805 zip code to realize that killing each other off is NOT how to live life.. Crime is getting HORRIBLE in Baton Rouge.. But there is NO WAY to stop it IF you keep letting these lazy people from living off the government while the MAN of the house is out selling drugs just to keep the lights on........ Its a fricking shame the STATE lets this still happen.................

succubus are supposed to be attractive...

1. Privatize public housing, allow the St. George school district (make NBR into a charter district). 2. More recreation opportunities. 3. Expand the Airport (more business flights to places like NY, DC, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles) and install a fiber network to attract economic development.

I work in real estate as a tenant rep and I can tell you based on experience that the number one reason for relocation is quality of life and talent. Cost of living and taxes are important but but they are in back burner to the other two. Outside of petrochemicals and locally founded companies, most relocation people turn a nose at Baton Rouge.

Put all of the fat people in concentration camps. This would also get 90% of the drivers off of the roads.

"Religious traditions hold that repeated sexual activity with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or even death."
I was more concerned with the last part of the definition. Those who refuse to work for a place to live, food, and healthcare have almost drained BR of it's lifeblood.
It is sick, and dying. Cancer spreads.

and much like a cancer, the only solution is to cut them out.
Or bombard them with radiation I guess.

passenger rail between BR and NOLA
Wish you guys would quit suggesting this gigantic waste of money.
1. Baton Rouge does not have the infrastructure for this.
2. Who wants to take a 1.5-2 hr train ride to NOLA when they could just drive in an hour.
3. The only ones that will use this daily will be the low life's, and it will have to be heavily subsidized.
4. BR people will use it mainly for a few events per year in NOLA
5. Barely anyone will use it to go from NOLA to BR.

To improve BR? Hrm, relocate it about 300 miles South, if the Gulf is deep enough there it might actually work

And leave the demographic causing most of the crime?

That will not happen because of block voting. Also, genocide is bad, mmmkay?
Consider if a wall was built down the middle of Florida Blvd. North Baton Rouge is now responsible for feeding itself, providing for it's police force, etc.
Most people would stand there hollering "Somebody give me something" while they starved to death. Those that work would GTFO.
The areas south of the wall would have good schools, roads and would need very little policing with the exception of the areas that are cancerous now.
I laugh when people keep saying to revitalize the downtown. As long as it is surrounded by those looking to make visitors into victims, it will never happen.

doesn't make sense to deport the demographic that isn't causing the crime.

Quit allowing real estate developers to build crappy apartments that eventually become low income/Section 8 slums.
Bulldoze vacant buildings and send the owners of those buildings the bill.
This is not within the mayor's jurisdiction, but I would push for independent school districts.
Bulldoze, for starters, the Gardere area, Old South Baton Rouge, and O'Neal between Geo. O'Neal and I-12.
Institute impact fees for new development.
