Perhaps the 9th ward so it would be over quicker.

Honestly can't think of one part of town I'd choose to live in.

Warehouse district. Close to everything, convenient. Slightly lower chance of death.

Uptown or Mid city.

Personally I'd choose mid city.

Uptown, CBD/Wharehouse District, FQ, Bayou St. John, Lower Garden District, Bywater or Marigny. Tons of great areas.

One year only?

Quarter.

ANY chance of staying longer I'd look elsewhere. Or I would immediately start hitting mid and uptown to see what it's all about.

Mid 30's single and no kids means it is your DUTY to hit drunk tourist poon all day everyday. By the time you bore of that it should be time to move. Or you should have the sense of New Orleans needed to pick your spot.

Something close to a hospital. When you get shot or stabbed, you'll save money on the ambulance ride.
