Uptown is your answer. Find a spot in this area: between Louisiana, Magazine, Napoleon, and St. Charles.

My wife and I have lived in this square for 3 years. I'd definitely recommend it.

Bywater if you dig chicks with tats, Mid City if you prefer them without.

FQ if you're not into either.

For one year I would definitely be in the Warehouse district. Long term I would be in Lakeview, especially when those kids come along.

I wouldn't be able to deal on a daily basis how people drive around there.

Nothing worse than these drivers who seemingly don't know where the frick they're going at 5mph

Not thay it's much better in my part of uptown

Trust me when I say you do not want to live in Lakeview for the long term.

We walk places a lot of the time, or ride bikes.

We're mostly only driving if the weather is bad, or if we're going to work and we're only a few blocks from Louisiana Ave. We also live on a one-way that doesn't see a ton of traffic.

Agreed, don't understand why someone would live there unless they're from New Orleans and/or have kids. No way I'd recommend it for someone from out of town who will only be in town a year.

It's just that area is jammed.

It really is unbelievable how many people apparently get in the car without a destination

I also drive a smaller vehicle, so that helps with the cramped streets.

I haven't really encountered many super slow drivers that you speak of.

Navarre neighborhood off canal. It's Lakeview/mid city hybrid and offers best of both works. About as centrally located as one can be.

dude is married, not like he is likely shutting the bars down every night

Plenty of Grocery shopping, good food choices, a couple of good bars, decent gyms

No need to worry about parking, a yard for grilling, a stone's throw from city park, metairie, midcity etc, from driveway to downtown is 10 minutes or less...no rush hour

If you want to live the wild bachelor life go live in the middle of downtown. I do not however see why it is so odd that a married young professional in their 30s would like the area. Hell people his age or eating old metairie and lakeview properties up like candy right now
