I want to watch this video high.

I didn't grow up in Baton Rouge, but lived close enough to catch the BR radio stations.
Every Friday night in the late 80's, WFMF would do call-in dedications and play this song in the background.

The kids from BR would drive to the Kingfish in Lafayette to listen to that

To be fair 'e' or 'x' was still legal when I was at LSU therefore it didn't hurt me when I took it.
Don't forget everyone at xanthus was soaked in Obsession.

I grew up in the 90s. We used to call the radio station and say we were someone else and dedicate it some girl at school then go to school the next day and say we heard x call into the radio station and dedicate a song to x. It was funny then but come to think about it, I think I really embarrassed some people. Especially when someone would say "I was listening and I heard it".

OnDaMike Din Da Daa - Remix
Added this to our float’s playlist a couple weeks ago. I knew it was a sample, but I wasn’t exactly sure where from. I was pretty pumped up to find the original in your OP this morning!

I may resemble that remark.
The song though? For me it’s Xanthus and The Bengal, “kingfish dancing” with my latently gay boyfriend.

The first time I went to Kingfish we walked in and our minds were BLOWN.
This song was blasting and people were packed like sardines, all gyrating and tripping out. My beer buzz was a joke compared to what these people were up to.
I didn't do drugs and just could not relate to those people. I was ready to leave after about two hours of people watching and failing miserably to talk to girls. They were out of my league and wanted to do more drugs. Me buying them a drink was an insult LOL.

shite man, that was 38 years ago. I probably didn't even realize it was BYOB. That might explain why I struck out LOL.
Let's just say I was not part of that scene and felt completely out of place. Drug users are a different breed from my social group and we did not fit in.

This is true. It was sold behind the counter at the local record store Trees in Mandeville.

Fair enough. I was a BR frat boy that used to drive to the kingfish w buds and party. It was a scene no doubt that chemistry definitely helped. But if you ever made that late night drive from BR to that back Lafayette road (Lake Martin Rd) you know what it was like. It wasn’t like anything else at that time.
