People who hate HOAs can’t afford to live in neighborhoods with them.

Bats might be protected, but my male cat killed one about a week ago. We have a pet sensor door for the cats so they can go in and out when we're on vacation (they always use the bathroom outside). Well the orange male brought a bat in through the automatic door when we were in bed, he was so damn proud of himself

What about eagles?

I always wanted some pet eagles!

Wrong. There are several services that remove them. I know because I had to hire one. You can find them on Google,

Read the installation advice first; you have to make sure it can be sonically located by the bats (not buried in trees or stuck real close to your house), and has enough room for them to drop out of it (I think 12' for the breeds we have in Houston.)

12-20 ft. and attached to a house is fine if on/near a corner. Can't be in a tree surrounded by branches.

We had one on our house at our old place and it was very popular.

I'd love to put one on the telephone pole in my front yard but I reckon the city/utility companies wouldn't be happy

ETA:

And at least 6-8 hours of daylight, preferably morning sun.

are bat roosts covered?

Did you receive ARC approval to add the roost? If not you most certainly can be forced to remove...dependent on the language in your covenants of course.

were you blindfolded and forced at gunpoint to get pre-approved, secure a loan, and sign the closing papers?

No?

Sounds like if you want to live someplace with no rules you shouldn't' have willingly, knowingly, and consciously purchased a home in a neighborhood that has them...

We live in a HOA community because my wife and daughter insisted on a pool and when I said we'd build one in the back yard they knew I was lying my arse off. I hate the bastards though, I wouldn't live in one if someone gave me the house but when the wife and daughter want something they usually get it.

That said we have idiots in our community raising hell about the HOA publicly - social media posts all day every day. If you don't think perspective buyers ain't going to see that and base their decision on it you are not overly bright. I get the anger but damn doing it publicly.....leave your trash can out an extra day to aggravate the bastards, don't drive away buyers....

Roughly 5% of bats carry rabies. I’d make sure the cat is vaccinated, or get rid of the cat. If you or your child gets rabies, from your cat, you’re dead. Not a risk you should be taking.

Our cat and dog both kill bats in our backyard pretty regulalry....not now but when they roosted on the porch post it was pretty common. The first time the dog did it we rushed her to the vet who told us as long as she was vaccinated it wasn't too risky. She was

I work in a nursing home and we had bats living in our attic at one point. Every pest control person who came out told me they couldnt do anything about it. Was a pain to deal with.
