This is going to come off as racist, well because everything is racist these days, but it's really amazing how an entire gigantic continent can be so devoid of civilized society.

It's almost impossible.

As a South African who got the frick out, you don't want to live there either. It's great as a tourist, but there isn't a single white South African I know who wants to be there still.

Just got back from Zambia a couple of weeks ago, very poor country, very low crime rate.
The people are very nice, but just a poor country.

When you have extremely abundant food sources with no need for sedentary agriculture, civilization becomes a no-go. We organize to fight scarcity.

I would live in Casablanca, Morocco and open an Art Deco style cafe where French resistance leaders would meet under the noses of occupying Nazi forces.

Otherwise, frick the whole damn continent.

Of course it all depends on the details. I'm a white guy and reasonably well-to-do by US standards, so I'd pick a large city in one of the more prosperous countries. Cairo, Addis, Dar es Salaam, etc. Sure, I could live like a king in a smaller city like Moshi, but why bother?

The more important question is why would I have to pick a country in Africa to start with? Am I running from the law back in the US? If so, I'd have to pick a place with lax attitudes about extradition. That might even make Western Sahara appealing.
