Anyways what would you do, I'm interested in hearing any and all ideas.

Can you circumnavigate the globe in a boat for that money?

Otherwise, if single, I would just chase women and gamble - that can cost you $80k much quicker than a year, though -

20k for a month?!? You can travel the world for a year on 20k. I've done it, it's easily doable.

With 80k play money I’m guessing you make at least 400k a year and you’re single working overseas?

The obvious doosh answer is invest but I like where you are going with this. The language idea is great. Life is short.

On a fun note, come up with an alt identity and travel and meet new people to gain perspective.

We have the boat and the money and the time and you couldn't pay us to do the Great Loop. We've been to 60 % of it and ....well... North America isn't Europe. We are too young and raw and unfinished to be interesting. Mile after mile of swamp, of muddy river banks, of trees and stuff along the inland rivers. Where there are beaches and not-swamps, you'll see every buildable lot has somebodies dream home on it, mostly built so close to their neighbors that personal noises are shared.

If I didn't have a husband, I'd take off and teach English somewhere. That way you'd get to really know a part of the world, andmaybe learn additional skills.

Peru has some of the best food, most interesting landscapes and some real history. For now, they seem more civilized than most.
Morocco also calls. New Zealand, for the other trips you could take. Alaska....thinking about going off the grid?

Trans Siberian RR. Then the new Chinese super rail up to Tibet.

1. When you've banged 1 hooker you've babes them all.
2. 80k was a mistake. I'm financially well off. I work as a driller and saved up a ton and now just waiting for the everjal boom in oil prices.
3. In the meantime want to do something memorable. So I don't look back at my life at 80 and be like "damn I wish I had gone to Antarctica" etc.

I have been to many countries, and all 7 continents, Antarctica was one of the most awe inspiring places I have ever seen, it is truly "other worldly". It will take about 3 weeks of your time and can probably be done for 10 grand.

Help a sick child with their medical expenses or some needy families. That will bring you more joy than any trip

Sounds like you’ve had a lot of fun hanging other countries bro. I think hiking the PCT or AT, or at least part of it, would give you a strong challenge and feeling of satisfaction.

Travel the world and eat awesome food

Life’s too short. You’re never promised tomorrow. You might not see that 80k at 70 years old

Hunker down and use the money to keep your certs up to date. There will still be plenty of drillers available in a year and the market will only be marginally better with wages still very low.

Go get your Pilot’s license and buy a small aircraft. Go where you want, when you want, and in a pretty awesome way.
