I'm not worried about fuel, much less electricity.

I need water, shelter and food in that order.

Now that I think of it I have a farm charge account at delta outfitters and at the grocery store.

I could get anything I needed with ease

I would book a flight to a place that will not have anarchy.

Gas, bullets, food, etc...won't help anyone. The problem is the most powerful force on planet earth has been stockpiling reserves for decades, plus they have tanks, Apaches, Skyhawks, Thunderjets, Hornets, drones, etc., and anarchy will only give those in control an excuse to purge society's burden of excess population. While we are making runs with our little militias trying to take over the weak for gas and food for our own survival, we won't even get a chance to raise our AR15's to defend our ground ...using our arsenal of stockpiled "bullets". One by one we'll be vaporized into chunky, red, puree without even seeing it coming...by men sitting relaxed.. in air conditioned quarters, miles away, sipping coffee, as they give the command to engage... just like those insurgents we watch on YouTube meeting their maker courtesy of Hellfire. Do you really think arming ourselves like militia would do a bit of good when military and the politicians they'll shield take over?

IF you plan involves using electricity it is not much of plan. Electricity is not a necessity, thousands of people today live perfectly fine without it.

Fair enough - you folks up there have a generally deserved reputation for being of tough, adaptable stock. I'm just saying that theorizing about the collapse of civilization and actually living through it are vastly different things.

Load up my family, all my weapons and ammo and get to a family farm in the middle of nowhere and meet up with all my friends who will be heading to the same place

Get in good with the baws on the Outdoor Board. Convince them somehow to stick together. Im sure some of them are into the prepper lifestyle.

Along with my firepower combined with those guys and their knowledge of SE terrain and topography, that would be the group I would want to stick with.

The U.S. military? That's one of the first things that will be hit by massive logistical shortages. Do you have any idea how much food, water, toilet paper and fuel American troops burn through on a daily basis?

Our budget for water at 1 base in Iraq was a million dollars a day. For water. Meals were contracted out in the mid $20 range - that's all on private contracts. And fuel? Even with it being mostly drones and helos, it was massive.

With a generalized collapse of order, the military will hold up fairly well for 30, 45 maybe even 60 days, but unless essential services are restored - hell, 80% aren't warfighters, anyway. They're mouths to feed.

Seriously, you have far more things to be afraid of than the U.S. military if the SHTF.

Very aware, but we're uniquely situated better than most. Still remote, true wilderness with plenty of resources, and suitable streams for hydro. It's a very easy place to survive, relatively.

The Southeast is the size of Florida with 70,000 people. Most of whom would leave. There are endless waterways and islands...clean air and water. No one would starve.

If you're talking about a vacuum created by the government than ammo, canned food, etc.

Depends on the "type" of anarchy we are talking about. EMP knocking out all power, Pandemic wiping people out, invaders from a foreign land, aliens. The only thing these have in common is a would want to be as secluded as possible. EMP I would want weapons, water, and food because the people that can't live off the land will come looking for you. Pandemic I would just want to be secluded with water and food, weapons wouldn't be nearly as big a deal because the densely populated areas would be the first to be highly infected. It really just depends on the situation what your top 3 are but being away from other people as much as possible would probably be high under any scenario.

I have 5 neighbors on my road. We all arm up and go to Wal-Mart and kill anyone that gets in our way of taking all the ammo and food we want.

Come back home. Our road has 6 houses in a 1.5 mile stretch with thousands of acres of woods surrounding our 6 houses. Kill anyone that steps foot near us.

Enjoy a good life.
