Yep. Living somewhere sustainable > hoarding resources

Any plan where you're hunkering down on the mainland will eventually work against you imo. Best to stock up and try and hit up a really low pop island

Mainland is the way to go. Marooning yourself on a desolate place is a worse idea than hitting the open water.

Most giant ocean faring yachts have full crews.

In fact I already know the one I'd steal, where it's docked, and where it's captain lives. And he'd drive it for me.

Oh yeah? How long before the crew and captain decide you're a waste of everything and throw you overboard?

It’s lonely on the sea

I'd bring friends, a couple cows and a couple bulls, a couple dozen chickens and a few roosters, and find a secluded island. And plant weed and some crops and just smoke weed and fish all the time.

I'd try to acquire as much ammo, knives, arrows, hand tools, and hardware as I could. Send someone else out to get nonperishable food items. Another to get tents and shelter needs. Water would be a huge concern, but it'd be too heavy to move what I'd probably need, so I'd grab gallons of bleach instead. I'd head somewhere in the mountains with access to fresh water stream or lake.

Why are you assuming low population islands are "desolate places"?

I think Dollar General has a distribution center there. You might stick out like a sore thumb in the Delta though.

This.

If you have only 24 hours to get ready, you're screwed.

Get ready now - start tomorrow. Ammo is cheap and plentiful right now.

Reminds me that I need to pick up a couple more bottles of liquor.

I sure do. Let's talk about it.

Desolate, meaning a reason someone doesn't want to live there? Why? Scarcity of goods, resources, essential living materials? You tell me.

I have decades of knowledge in plant and soil systems, and I can tell you this, I'd much rather be apart of a huge area of land, with different soil and climate types, than be in a specific locale with limitations.

But continue, you seem the type that knows his stuff. I can't wait.

This. We've got thousands of them around here, lots of game, fish and no roads connecting to the outside.

In a SHTF scernario, I would have to do music differently but might claim a small island
