To OP: Who cares? People want socialization and outdoor activities. Stop worrying about what others are doing you weirdos.
Wood Badge would count more back when it wasn't two weekends, but a week long training. Jamboree is more like a job. Next time go visitor and stay in a hotel, lol.
BSA is actually considering a 21-35 yo program right now.

I spent two weeks of my summer vacation living in a tent and volunteering at the National Scout Jamboree in W. VA. I was teaching kids how to fish/fly fish. Worked WAY harder than my regular job.
Does that count?

Woodbadge. I'm a Bear.
We built rope bridges, repaired zip lines and the high confidence course. Cleaned up the archery/gun range. Went fishing and would have fish frys. And of course had to use them to insure the safety for our troops.
We also built trebuchets and would launch bales of wheat straw at other patrols. Alcohol was forbidden, or we would have them on fire.

i'm torn right down the middle between "this sounds incredibly gay" and "this sounds incredibly fun"

Is this like when go to a Nudist colony but I'm not really a nudist?

I use to be a Fox
They neutered Wood Badge like they neutered Eagle, so the Eagle factory troops can turn out kids way too young.
I still staff, but you don't do the service project anymore. You don't do pioneering. A lot of the curriculum changes are decent though. They took away staff singing I use to be a staffer and staff walking sticks to try and cut down on some of the critter hazing.

It’s a message board and people have opinions about things. So what?
It’s always fun when people on a message board complain about people posting on a message board.

Kramer's going to a fantasy camp. That man's life is a fantasy camp. Doesn't have to work for money; falls bass ackwards into sex. People should be plunking down two grand to live his life for a week.

If an individual chooses to have zero joy in their lives they are free to make that decision. Those joyless fricks ALWAYS get worked up over other people enjoying themselves. Why would anyone care what these people do for fun? They ain't hurting anything AND they are making a business viable. I would get it if the state insisted that everyone go to summer camp but no one is being forced to go....let people enjoy their lives and I am certain they will let you be miserable in yours.....
This. Costs me nothing to think what other people do is dumb, but it also costs me nothing to shut up about it.
Enjoy your lives people. You have my permission, but please use your turn signals and return you shopping carts while you're at it.

You're correct. I used to be a bear.
My wife would holler out at every merit badge.. "Sing the Wood "Chuck" song". She would laugh at our singing.

NGL, this actually sounds like fun. It’s a vacation away from the wife and kids.
Yea, I do occasional guys trips with friends.
Doing it with strangers is likely either you had a life changing event leaving you lonely or you are a pain to be around

Honestly, who cares what they do with their money? If they want to pay for that type of experience and it helps them in some way, and it’s legal, so what?
Yeah, I never get the posts raging over what people do on vacations that might be different from the things you or I might want to do.
I’m grateful there are a lot of people who want to do things different than I choose (and that there are increasing offerings for such folks) because the things I choose seem plenty crowded enough already.
Dispersion on this stuff is nothing but good in my view.

I'm at a summer camp right now, but they will send you home if you decide it's nap time.

So, is this better or worse than Disney adulting, or whatever you call it?
