as someone who dropped out of lsu because of organics 2, went into the trades for years then went back and finished my engineering degree....

i can say with 100% fact that 99% of yall saying i would have went into a trade would have fricking hated it. Sure a couple of you would have opened a business but it sure as frick aint all sunshine and rainbows like so many make it out to be on this board. Being in the trades sucks dick as daily life, just saying.

ive done both and i wouldnt trade my expierence for anything as its helped me out a ton, but day to day life in the trades sucks major major arse for shite pay. I have done both, i can promise the have a degree life is much better for 99% of people.

if i had to do it over again, would have went into coaching trying to get into college football. this was 20 years ago when it wasnt like it is today.

Please explain. My son is a sophomore in college and is still trying to decide on a path to take in college .

Retail pharmacists have a very, very low job satisfaction rate these days. Pay is stagnant, and in some areas it’s declining due to supply of pharmacists being too high. Further, the cost of a pharmacy degree is absolutely outrageous these days for a job at which you might make $120,000/year. And tell him to forget about aspiring to own his own retail pharmacy. We are friends with a couple (both are pharmacists) that own a very busy community pharmacy and they just told us at dinner last weekend that they would make more per year if he worked a retail job full time and she filled in part time 2 days per week. So, they are doing several millions of dollars in sales and clearing less than $200,000/year. Didn’t used to be this way, but insurance companies/pharmacy benefits management companies have just about put everyone out of business. Hope everyone likes Amazon, Walgreens and CVS. That’s the only retail options that will be available within 10 years or so.

My wife is the director of a hospital pharmacy. She has been in hospital pharmacy for 15 or so years and she likes it 1,000x better than retail, but those jobs are few and far between, and they pay significantly less than retail.

it borders on being disrespectful too. lots of average engineers and corporate people think they'll run a successful business because it's so easy? yeah ok

there's a reason most successful blue collar business owners send their kids to college.

I would probably do wildlife biology, RnR or forestry. I would in a somewhat related field.

Always been jealous of the guys that track black bear or wolf population and health. That get to work hand ons with wildlife like that. “ hang on , let me measure the canine teeth of this grizzly bear real quick before she wakes up” and tag it with a tracking beacon.

Like a Steve Irwin, David Attenborough, jack Hanna type guy.

If I could do it again, I'd do it the same. Not one regret. I wouldn't change a thing.

Not just that. All of it.

Get sunburned on a new tattoo. Lose my favorite jeans and my tennis shoes. Get kicked out of my hotel room, and sleep in the truck for a night or two. I'd blow all my money and have to call my dad, then work too much just to pay him back. Take bong rips and laugh like hell, flip the police off and get hauled to jail.

Et cetera, et cetera.
