My family owned those ships, and I had ancestors involved in it.

They were captured slaves, and the ships docked in Jamestown to avoid pursuit, and capture, but those slaves became indenture servants in Virginia.

Indentured servants just like thousands of white colonists.

If those slaves had not been captured, and taken to Virginia, they would have ended up working in a sugar cane plantation, where they would have been worked to death in awful circumstances.

There’s nothing to apologize for.

The thread isn't to discuss the stark differences in the practice of slavery in the Southern Colonies and Southern States versus the Caribbean and South America; however, it was admittedly far more benign on balance.

Musing aloud if JFK hadn’t been killed if we would have ended up with the “Great Society”, which is the root cause of virtually everything that’s wrong in the US today.
We'd have the "New Frontier" which was effectively the same thing.

fricking Hitler

If it wasn’t for Hitler the commies almost certainly would have taken over Germany, resulting in far more deaths than what Hitler produced.

I’m not saying youre wrong but how does this change history? Germany, may have had more time to get their shite together and actually won. I’m not saying they would have but I don’t know. Princip killing the Archduke was certainly the rock causing the most ripples. No doubt about it

There are a lot of good answers in this thread, but I’ve got to go with making sure Truman did not forbid Patton from taking Moscow.
