If you constantly use up your Paid Time Off, most likely you're bad with money also

The type that will earn 4, 8, or 10 hours and use it right away. These people are terrible when it comes to money management. There's a definite correlation...and I've been a witness to it constantly.

I have a few coworkers that are constantly almost bottomed out on their paid leave. A few of them even take unpaid leave every few weeks because they don't have a positive balance.

I can't say for sure whether they are bad with money, but it's pretty baffling to me.

ETA: We can roll over all of it, so it's not like they're going to lose any.

I’m great with money and always use up my PTO. I don’t understand the point of carrying anything over or waiting to use a huge chunk at the end of the year when the weather is unpredictable and shitty.

Couldnt be further from the truth in my case

Sounds like you're bitter that some people actually use their PTO that they earned.

I find that the above, linked with taking the day off as soon as they're paid = substance abuse.

What does being a salaried employee have to do with PTO and vacation time?

I don't get PTO. Does that mean I'm SUPER bad with money?

I don't use it right away, but with two small kids I cannot accumulate any. I think I'm getting ahead and someone gets sick or they get me sick or there is a school event I need to take a few hours off for. It's always a struggle to get to 40 so I can take a vacation.
