Everyone is giving their anecdotal reasons why OP is an idiot but I mean it's not the worst take. It all boils down to instant gratification. The people who watch and wait until they finally hit 8 hours of PTO built up so they can take off a day are also probably more likely to buy shite in the moment instead of saving.

I have coworkers in my office who brag about banking up PTO which essentially means they never take vacation. I can’t help but laugh because it seems like a miserable existence to do less travel and fun things in life all so you can bank up hours for the sake of banking up hours.

I used all my vacation and and PTO and looked for more.
Retired at 55 fifteen years ago and been debt free for the last 20.
I think I managed my finances OK.
