If you are an old school wet shaver you might also enjoy using a reel mower

Another instance where going old school can make a regular task mentally enjoyable.

You have to have the right type of yard and grass for it. I use a $100 mower I got from Lowe’s and find cutting the lawn to be much more pleasant than before, to the point I even sorta look forward to it. Better for your grass too.

I feel like Gaston should be making this post.

Or he'll be here shortly to tell us about his German made reel mower.

Do you rake up the clippings after or does your yard just look like shite all the time?

I have one and love it. Never gotta worry about gas, and I like the physicality. My yard is pretty small though, and I have Bermuda grass. Also, you gotta keep those blades sharp, or you'll be running the same lines 3 times over.

The clippings are the best part because they help nourish the grass. If mine are clumped I just scatter them with a leaf blower.

You can cut super early or late when it is cooler. Or even at night. No noise to disturb the neighbors.

Naw. I can just keep sending the lawn guy automatic payments every week. That's an extra hour and a half each week to spend with family, work out, etc...

Reel mowers cut like a pair of scissors which leaves a much better end for the grass to heal. Gas rotory motors tear the ends off in a shredding motion leaving the grass susceptible to disease.

If you look at your grass tips after your next cut with a rotary you will see them ragged and maybe brown. That doesn’t happen with a reel mower.

They really do mow a great yard. A lot of people have problems because they don't maintain them properly. You need to keep a cleaning log, I like to keep mine right on the mower for simplicity, and only clean 2 times a year max.

My old neighbor used to use one of those Little Rascals mowers. It was painful to watch.

Own one of the reel mowers.

They suck.

If someone wants it come get it.
