If the USA became involved in a major military conflict.

Say a direct war with Russia or China or even if WW III broke out. Would the present day in their prime generation step up. In a similar way as the "greatest generation" did. Would a draft be brought back? If so would people go willingly or run. What about the Hollywood and professional athletes? Would today's stars step up like the Ted Williams and Jimmy Stewart's of the day did?

I see a lot of bone spurs in that scenario

Nope, anti war protests would break out, and the pussy hats would be shaming the heros who do go off to defend our country..

Why would they? The generation in power has proven they have no clue on managing war efforts. Get the Boomers out of office and we will talk.

I'm pretty sure the current generation has more critical thinking skills than any before it. They'd get involved for the right reasons, but I doubt they're lining up to serve for a territorial dispute or something like that.

Spend one day talking to 18-25 year old adults and you will have your answer.

Would have to be. No way there would be enough able-bodied 18-25 year olds willing to sign up.

A lot would run. I doubt seriously that the liberal mindset that abounds in today's younger generation would support any kind of military conflict.

Same as the younger generation. Too many liberals. There would be some somewhere, but maybe not any superstars. Probably more like a Pat Tillman type.

I remember one of our local WW2 vets told me that when he was coming up the previous generation was saying the same thing about them. "These are kids are soft, they don't know hard times, spoiled, blah blah blah, etc." but that when the came for them to step up they did it.
Now obviously the definition of spoiled and soft back then compared to now are two completely different things, but point being is that if push came to shove and the younger generation had to step up and do something about it that they would for the most part. Every generation is going to have their pussy hat wearers, but its the silent majority that no one hears about that always saves the day.
Now on the flipside of that I feel like a lot of the keyboard patriots on Facebook that love to talk about bringing the draft back to "show these little snowflakes what life is like", would probably shite their pants in this scenario.

Well said. If only the “back in my day” idiots knew how ignorant they sound

Volunteers would be fine
A draft would be a disaster. While theres still enough volunteers to yield a good defense, drafting people in this day would result in faaar too many people who coudn;t handle it.

Clown question bro.
Are you at all familiar with what the US military and anti-war sentiment was like pre-WWI and pre-WWII?

Can you educate everyone on this Memorial Day weekend?

I feel like the men and women of America who have dignity and pride will sign up or answer the call. The losers will stay home and tweet about how this isn’t their war.
We could have enemy planes dropping bombs in San Fran and they would somehow justify a reason to stay out of it.

My grandfather lied about his age to join up early in WWII. I once asked him this same question, if he thought my generation would step up. He said he had no doubt we would be fine — because when it comes down to it we would do what needs to be done. He then told me people, his own WWI vet father included, said the same thing about his generation, and look how they turned out.

Boomers chickened out of nam, not sure why this is a millennial thing (even though millennial would be mostly be to old for the draft)
I think it would take a 9/11 or Pearl Harbor event.
With the amount of tax money we piss away in the name of defense spending id hope a draft will never be needed

America will never fight another ground intensive war and win. We don't have the stomach or intestinal fortitude for it as a country anymore.

Only one reason Hollywood sided with the allies in WW2 and I'll let y'all guess what it was.
They'd probably welcome our new communist overlords now.

Drones would be the way to go. Hand them young kids a controller and tell them it is the new Call of Duty!
