No one in this thread was confused, beyond understanding how supposed learned men could ever come up with such a concept.

Most people understand the insanity plea.

This is objectively incorrect, in my experience. If I walked up to 100 people who aren't practicing criminal defense attorneys/prosecutors and asked them to explain the standards for competency and sanity and to give a brief description of the outcomes of both, I would be genuinely shocked if a single one could do so. I would bet my house there wouldn't be two.

And frankly, your saying so is plainly contradicted by basically every other poster on this thread who isn't you.

Why do leftists never consider the “greater good” as it relates to society when it comes to criminals?

The posts seem to disagree with the law, but not from lack of understanding.

Saying “I don’t understand how this happens” doesn’t mean you don’t understand the law. It just means you don’t understand how this scenario ever came to be, from a rational perspective.

I'm not sure whether to be confused or amused by this back and forth. Fork clearly, and understandably, didn't understand the difference between sanity and competency when he posted this:

quote:

They should be retried as soon as they are deemed mentally stable.

Considering someone can't be evaluated for sanity until they are already deemed competent.

You also seem to be the only person on the thread who has taken issue with any of my posts. Regardless, feel free to respond as you see fit. I've explained both standards. If anyone has any questions about that, I'm happy to answer. If not, then all that's left is the debate I have no interest in having

Sensible legal principles being converted into a cop out taken by public defenders, stupid juries, lazy prosecutors, and bad police work.

Most NGRI’s are bullshite because no one involved wanted a difficult trial/decision.

Dad should’ve made a victim statement stating the judges home address and family names

Ya know, since it’s so safe for this mutant to be on the streets.. shouldn’t be anything to worry about

And if the judge objected to that.. then maybe he should rethink letting him walk the streets

What was it that made him "insane" in the moment of the murder?

The jury deemed him insane for the murder of the son but not insane for the assaults on the dad and daughters.

This is why normal, competent people shouldn't skip out on jury duty.

Unfortunately anyone with sense can get out of it, so they do. And we’re left with nonfunctional retards and nosey Karen’s for every jury.

Because posters are rightly pointing out the absurdity of insanity pleas, and you are responding with BUT AKSHUALLY legal mumbo jumbo.

The law does not change the ridiculousness.

This is one where it just takes a little common sense. If someone truly can’t understand that stabbing a six year old to death is wrong, they are not fit to ever partake in society again. The options are either, life in a secured mental hospital or the death penalty. The idea we ever trust someone like this back into normal society is completely unacceptable.

Law abiding citizen moment. We worry about the absolute horrifying future our kids are gonna go through but parts of that future are already here. We should be leaning more towards the jury who got the dad off on defending his childs life when he found a guy raping his kid and beat them to death.

Instead, more often, that father is put in prison for life, while were he not beat to death, hed be back on the streets after 18 months when his head should be caved in with a hammer immediately.

Its 2025 and we should be a more refined and intellectual species, but were fricking immoral and retarded.

I don’t care if the crime is a theft. If you’re too fricking crazy to not know right from wrong, off to the euthanasia room you go. Society shouldn’t have to deal with you.

Society is overrun with pieces of shite that have no business in a civil society, and we’re just told to deal with it and suffer.
