You know what you ought to get instead of a watch no one will notice?

Take that ten grand and get some tailored suits, with one of them being a tuxedo.

Men don't realize how a well tailored suit can change their entire appearance. A well tailored suit will be for sure noticed.

Oh and don't forget the shoes.

Buy 2,000 packs of Pokemon cards. You might get something rare.

The 10K is a downpayment unless he gets a pretty old one.

Most expensive card in the packs right now is a $200 charizard. Only needs to get 50 of those

No one really wears a watch anymore. Get something else.

This is definitely not true. I wear one everyday (Nothing crazy, just have a few different Seiko’s for now) and actually notice them alot more now than I used to. And being in sales, they’ve actually been a good addition to conversations Ive had with prospects as well when I happened to come across someone who had a watch I knew a little about.

I’ll never be the guy who buys a 10k dollar watch but I’ll never tell someone how to spend their money. When I do make it to the day I have a couple really nice watches, I’ll probably have an IWC or a Tudor Heritage Black Bay .

Check out Jaeger LeCoultre's Master line, if you're wanting a dress watch. JLC is a bit higher than Rolex in luxury horology "hierarchy".

If you are not buying Mille, reevaluate why you are not winning at life and get with the program.

Get a smart watch and invest the rest in firearms and ammunition.

The idea that Rolex, Patek and Panerai (to a lesser extent) hold value is true with a big caveat. Unless you are one of the few that has a long-standing relationship with an AD (unlikely given the context of the OP) you will pay a (significantly) inflated price for a SS Rolex.

I always tell people to buy what they love (within their budget). With a few very limited examples a watch is not a good investment especially when you consider the care and feeding.

As for suggestions outside Rolex, it would help if you show a couple of pictures of watches you like. Once your style is established people can give you specific examples in your price range. Some of the brands I like and own under or close to $10 are Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Panerai, JLC, IWC, Blancpain, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet (the last two are a little over $10k for their base SS sports watch).

If you are looking for a pure dress watch, I've always been a fan of the following, which is a hair above $10k but seriously punch above watches in that price range and higher:

Really austere, but as classic as they come.

Just attach $10,000 in cash to your wrist. You'll get even more of the attention you seek and not have to waste $10,000.

The Saxonia is a great dress watch but some people will be put off by the 37mm size and the care and feeding of a Lange, even a 2 hander, is not cheap.
