My guess is we would probably be at 200K deaths in the US (versus ~130K right now in the actual reality), but with a much lower chance of a "second wave", and probably tens of thousands of fewer deaths from suicide, delayed elective surgeries, etc. The Swedish route was the way to go....

other than things that have been forced upon me, like my kids not going to school, which doesn't matter anymore now that it's summer, i have been living my normal life all of 2020, and i haven't died.

At this point I say screw it and have a normal life again...... get kids back in school, open ALL eatiries and such. Why not just open the whole country up and see what happens. It could get worse, BUT it could be ok........ instead of sheltering and people being misirable just let it loose.... the time for panic is over.......

i'm really curious what happens in a month or so in Europe when they can't afford to keep paying everyone's salaries
even SK is having issues and has said they won't shut down again b/c of economic issues. will Europe try to bankrupt their futures by holding on another few months? will another few months matter in the big picture?

yeah Europe is going to have some tough decisions shortly after our unemployment runs out in a few weeks. how much they are willing to borrow/spend will be telling
also, they have structurally fricked anyone who was unemployed prior to COVID by making available jobs even more scarce. that is going to have very long-lasting effects

also, the PIIGS never did fully recover or stabilize from the 2009 recession (and all their naughtiness prior to this). how in the ever living frick are countries like Italy and Spain going to afford all of this long term?
