How much in taxes does he pay compared to the average American?

Elon gets companies valued at about 50 times as much as they should be worth. Like I see a Tesla on the road about once a month, yet Tesla was supposedly more valuable on the stock market than Ford at one point.

Where exactly do you live to only see a Tesla just about once a month? Go to California, Nevada, Oregon or Washington and one in every 5-6 cars is a Tesla.

Elon Musk method of business

Massively overpromise, massively underdeliver. However, keep saying it's only a few years away to keep the investors pumping money in

About 0.6% or 0.7% of cars on the road are Teslas. About 14% of cars on the road are Fords, as a comparison.

You have to account that Teslas are a relatively model though. In the past three years, Teslas account for about 4-5% of all new vehicles purchased in the US and over 50% of all new EVs purchased. For comparison, Ford is 13-14%

Or it could be that investors invest in Tesla because they have not had a loss in any quarter since Q2 2019

The past 5 years look like this

quote:

Q2 2021: $1,142M
Q3 2021: $1,618M
Q4 2021: $2,321M
Q1 2022: $3,318M
Q2 2022: $2,259M
Q3 2022: $3,292M
Q4 2022: $3,687M
Q1 2023: $2,513M
Q2 2023: $2,703M
Q3 2023: $1,853M
Q4 2023: $7,928M
Q1 2024: $1,390M
Q2 2024: $1,400M
Q3 2024: $2,173M
Q4 2024: $2,128M
Q1 2025: $409M
Q2 2025: $1,172M
Q3 2025: $1,373M
Q4 2025: $840M
Q1 2026: $477M

Note: Tesla’s Q4 2023 was unusually high because it included a large one-time deferred tax valuation allowance benefit.

But I am sure you are correct. You should apply to JP Morgan as an analyst

I have owned a tesla since 2019. It is by far the best commuter vehicle ever made. And it isn't even close.

I'm currently at my house in the jungle in Mexico with high speed internet thanks to Starlink.

You're an idiot.

And I can't imagine that SpaceX should really be worth $1.75-2 trillion as has been rumored.

2 trillion is undervalued compared to what they will be in the future. They already do more launches than the rest of the world combined. The only major threat to where the company can go is government overreach by people who don't agree with his politics and support of Trump.

The regional differences are fascinating. There are Teslas everywhere in Atlanta. There are even a ton of those hideous CyberTrucks.

It's amazing how many people don't understand net worth

Elon has paid more in taxes personally than anyone in history. In 2021 he paid $12 billion in personal taxes

His companies pay a ton of taxes in various forms

People ignore all of that, though

Now, if you want to discuss avoiding taxes, then people should look at how Bezos (and many others) do it by utilizing the "Buy, Borrow, Die" method

Starlink and Electric Vehicles are the realistic developments out of Elon's companies

A few instances:
We were supposed to have full self driving in 2018
We were supposed to be on Mars in 2024
Roadster was supposed to come out in 2020

When I travel to larger cities, I regularly see multiple Teslas on the roads. You ever heard of a place called, "California"? Tesla regularly sells 1 out of 8 or 1 out of 9 cars in that small state. They are also highly popular in the Northeast, known for its low population density and small number of cars.

Been there recently? Half the cars in the city are Waymo… meanwhile the autonomous driving musk has promised for a decade is still beta testing. Not saying musk is a grifter, but he way way wayyyy oversells and under delivers. But his companies command a premium. He will no doubt hit trillionaire status. Which is just insane to fathom.

Yea I was in SF last week and half the cars are not Waymos. I live in Houston suburbs and there are 5-6 Teslas just on my street alone with two homes that have two Teslas.

I am pretty neutral on Elon. Yes he oversells but he seems to aim super high and falls short of amazing promises but the result is still extraordinary progress over time that outpaces his competitors by a mile. Had he not waded into politics during last election, he would probably be even further ahead as many progressive car buyers eliminated his cars as an option.

Once Trump is out of office and they create a new "boogeymonster" on the left they will likely move on quickly.
