If an alien signal was detected would that cause you to rethink your religious beliefs?

Let’s assume SETI or whomever picks up an alien signal and proves that life is not unique to planet Earth. For those that are religious would that cause you to rethink your beliefs? What do you think the general response would be from organized religious and would it differ between religions?

5th grade science class should make you question your religious beliefs.

Why would that make religious people question their beliefs?

On the contrary, it would strengthen my Scientology faith.

BTW, I don't think any of the major religions specifically rule out aliens.

If you opened God's word and realized end time prophecy after end time prophecy was coming to fruition, would you rethink any doubts you have?

God's word prophecies of world wide video, air planes, cash less society, at least one example of "artificial intelligence/human killing robot, and many others that should be obvious proof of accuracy of God's word.

It might not. I’m just curious what people think. It seems to me that each of the world’s major religions center on humans though. If we detect a signal from 1000 light years away does the concept of sin for instance still hold true there.

Oh so like there was other Jesuses?

So what does that make God?

Did a different alien race even need a Jesus?

If God made us in His image, is he human over alien?

The signal was sent by a dead person, so it just tells us Vega is the location of heaven.

No shite. Unless you think ants and cockroaches believe in a higher being. We only know humans to be religious.

Agreed. Timing is everything, what if i told you there is intelligent life, but it's at it's infancy, much the same humans were 10,000 years ago.

Or there was intelligent life that used it's resources and wiped itself out millions of years ago.

Depends. Is the message exhorting mankind not to pleasure itself?

I’m a believer in the general sense and fully accept that millions if not more intelligent based planets exist throughout the universe. My reconciliation stems from the mind numbing question of how did something start from nothing.

Right. But detecting a signal signifies a higher intelligence like humans possess. Do you think that they would be religious, and if so would it mirror the major religions here on Earth. If either they weren’t religious or their religion was radically different, what does that mean?
