I’m just tired of having to sit on the ground in the airport. They should put in more chairs. Planes are planes but at least make it not so terrible to wait to board.

Oh, and Capri suns. That’s a brilliant idea.

Why not just have first/business and 'elite' level passengers board last while protecting their overhead carryon space. Have a mini club at the boarding area serving drinks and the like. Once the peons have boarded, then you can have the higher priority board and plane take off. I won't be offended if I'm the last on the plane as long as my overhead isn't taken.

dilly dilly baw! just got back from schlepping around Europe for two weeks, a backpack that went under the seat and a small bag that went into the overhead, same for the old lady, had room to pack more, just knew we would be bringing stuff back

when the overhead space fills up, or is considered filled up, to expedite boarding, most airlines, a least the big ones, offer to check your bag for free

Right but all that does is delays leaving more really. I've been on at least a dozen flights where people in row 20 can't find a place for their bag and stand there looking around until a flight attendant comes to tell them they need to check it, at which point the bag has to go 19 rows forward.

I would support allowing people who volunteer to do so a chance to board through the back door of a plane and use stairs

airlines are always looking at how to improve things, it's the passengers that don't seem to want to cooperate

Instead of letting the rulebreakers/linejumpers get on the plane, you make them get ON the plane. If they can hang on to the next destination, then you allow them another chance to get on the plane like a human being.

and that's because people disregard the multiple PAs making the offer, apparently thinking, "that doesn't mean me, they'll find a spot for my bag," flight attendant wouldn't have to do that if everyone listened to the PAs and acted accordingly

use stairs

never happening at big hubs, and the chances are less and less at out stations, then everyone would bitch about being out in the weather

They would install little vacuums in the seat bottoms so when the fart fest commences from cabin pressure no one has to experience the smells. They’ve already taken care of the noise factor.

Allow anyone in an aisle seat and nothing in overhead bin/compartment to deplane first.

Ms 50 had a huge rant last night about this when I picked her up from DFW.

Why don't planes back in to their gate like every F150 I see. Am I right?

Because then everyone in the terminal would be staring at a giant pair of plane nuts.

1. Board from the back. It would be much faster and efficient.

Most efficient boarding process is operation is the Southwest system because it ends up somewhat self-optimizing. Someone takes too long to sit down, you just say screw it and sit where you're at. Back to front is surprisingly less efficient than a random system.

I think Mythbusters did test various boarding methods and the theoretical best is to go seat by seat back window first, moving both in toward the aisle and up. But, in a real world with families flying and wanting to board together you can't actually do that.

2. Get rid of the 3 3 configuration. It sucks

Start flying regional jets! Of course, those come with their own inconveniences. I do prefer 2-3 to 3-3, but I think those are going to start giving way to the 3-3's soon.

Actually, they should board by row from the back forward. I don't get why they don't do this.

google Jason Steffen, a scientist who proposed a precise loading method that would speed up the process several years ago.

It is about having first dibs on the overhead compartment. People pay extra to be first on board and have that advantage.

imo, can't board narrow bodies from the rear using jet bridges and 3 & 3 in narrow bodies not going away, a more sensible solution is to put your cell phone down and not try to carry your grandmother in a steamer trunk as a carry on to expedite boarding, same as deplaning, if everyone just stayed seated(and off their phone,) until each row in front of them stood up, got their steamer trunks and moved, it would expedite that process as well
amen.
