That seems like a lot more work

My local supermarkets are really over-priced living in a predominantly tourist market. About 3 years ago my wife noticed the costs for a few things like condiments, soaps, and other dry goods. It was $6 for a regular sized bottle of ketchup or something like that. Ever since we basically buy all dry goods either through the pantry program or the regular replacement schedule.
It’s made shopping easier cause we need less “stock” stuff. We basically get an amazon package every day.

Amazon - I want to deal with the general population as little as possible.

All amazon all the time. Part of this is price, but it's mainly convenience. I recently moved literally 5 minutes away from where I work, so venturing out of that area after a work day when my house is 5 minutes away is a hell of a mental mountain to climb.

This.

And I factor in time value and cost of gas.

So usually Amazon

I’ve never bought a single thing on Amazon myself. Never found the need to do so to be honest.

If you're too busy, this seems like a solid waste of time too.

Amazon because I get 5% cash back 5% off on a lot of prime products. I can wait two days.

You don't understand how Amazon works.

At one point I use to buy a lot from Amazon. I would make at least one order a week. The only thing I would go to the grocery store for was meat, eggs, milk and a few other items. It was in and out, everything else would be delivered at the house.

But after awhile it seemed like, although some things were the same brand, it didn't have the same quality I expected (not sure if that was a result to it being shipped, maybe placed in high temperature areas for a while... or what). I didn't like how if Amazon didn't have something, they would list an item that would come from somewhere else, but sold through Amazon.

So now, I might buy something from Amazon 3 or 4 times a year.

convenience of delivered to my door is worth it even if it costs a couple of bucks more and takes a day to get here

There is a pretty big problem on Amazon with fake/knockoff products. And I'm still skeptical of a lot of the reviews on products even though Amazon claims they've cleaned up the review process and algorithms. It's almost turned into Ebay.

Depends if the local shop is pro Trump or not.

Do you ask them?

"Excuse me. How much is this polo shirt and who did you vote for in the 2016 presidential election?"

I never searched it, now I guess I will google to see what I can find, but when you say knock offs, are you talking about products that are packaged as certain brands but the actual product is a much cheaper version?

Deodorant was the most noticeable to me. Like I said, I didn't know if it was maybe because it was in extreme heat for a period of time or what, but the packaging was the same, it was just that the actual lack of quality of the product was really noticeable.

If I need one or two things quickly, I'll go to local hardware or grocery store. Bulk of what I buy is through Amazon or Neighborhood Walmart, way different than Super Walmart. We've even started to buy stuff through Walmart online as they offer more selection and it beats having to track it down at store in the area. They are also getting close to Amazon shipping rates so that's huge too. Most non-food items come from Amazon though as that's less time I have to drive in Baton Rouge traffic and it comes to me, wider selection, and sometimes tax free depending on seller.

I try to buy local but lots of independents simply do not run very good businesses. I suspect you can count on your fingers the number of merchandise retailers over 25 years old in your town.

They don't have convenient hours or adequate inventory selections are generally the reasons I do not shop with them.

I find that I use Amazon for things that I know locals retailers will not have the selection I want. Just this past week I bought some drip irrigation things. I know of no independent that has a good selection of this and even Home Depot's selection is inadequate.

I have some Red Wing boots, I use my local boat shop, I generally buy groceries at a small local chain although my wife has learned to like Wal Mart pick up--I can't remember the last time I went into a WalMart store and my pharmacy has limited HDAs so I get them from Amazon.

By not having to step foot inside the MOL should be a solid enough reason to use Amazon.

Don’t shop there or Walmark either. Amazing I can survive.

Amazon as often as possible. If I think of something I need, I’ll forget about it and not buy it for weeks. If I order it on amazon, it’s here in two days

Yes. My wife and daughter have ordered beauty products that clearly were not the actual advertised brand. That became even more evident when they tried to return them and Amazon said contact the seller, and the seller didn't respond to any emails.
