I would say it would be very unlikely that he would get caught. No video surveillance for the car make or model, without that, it’s unlikely that they even look at him.

Or was that he didn't want front and back license plates on his car for a reason?)
Remember he was pulled over by the police. Without going to the affidavit, I believe he was reminded at that time his plates were about to expire or they may have told him that since he was a WA resident he needed to get WA plates?
But that was the explanation given and IMO makes sense. His old plates expired from PA so he got new plates for WA. Just odd timing.

Yet still a slam dunk case for the prosecution.
Shows how stupid this guy is.

why did he postpone the car registration change?)
If I remember correctly, here in Washington, when you transfer tags from another state, and that state has a lower sales tax, then you have to pay the difference. He might have needed to save up some cash to pay the difference.

Yeah, this guy is far from the meticulous, criminal mastermind that people want him to be based on his studies.

He left the sheath with his dna on it. Dylan also saw him.
His DNA wasn’t on file anywhere, there was no GED Match for familial dna 30 years ago. Dylan saw a guy with bushy eyebrows and gave a general size of him (roughly an average size male), his nose and mouth were covered. Without the car surveillance video, he’s likely not a suspect.

The floor plan you included for 2nd floor is better with cameras matching some of the pics from its previous listing that were still online initially.
Yeah, and the tiktok video another posted confirms my layout is correct. Look at my last few posts for the last few pages back. Got a screenshot of the staircase to the third level and the foyer it's in.

Yep, and sounded like trace DNA. Not like he left blood, spit, or semen on it. Ability to detect Trace DNA didn't exist 30 years ago. That's relatively new.

Further proof he is an idiot. He went through the hassle of getting new plates and new drivers license and paying 3% tax difference from PA when he didn't have to.

May a vehicle properly licensed or registered in another jurisdiction be operated in Washington without further registration requirements? Yes, as provided in RCW 46.85.060 and 46.85.080 the following conditions and restrictions apply:
(1) Nonresident students: The student must be in full-time attendance at a college or university in Washington accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges or at a private vocational school as that term is defined by RCW 28C.10.020(7) and maintain their legal home of record at a location outside the state of Washington. Vehicles must be registered in the student's or in the name of their parent or legal guardian in the resident state of record. The student must carry documentation issued by the college, university or vocational school that readily establishes the nonresident status.

You are correct, he is certainly not caught very quickly. But without technology there was much more then 0 evidence. DNA evidence PLUS a witness and almost full description is pretty solid evidence.
We don't know what else is out there. The police may have found something else to tie him.
The police were working on the car description. If they didn't have that lead, its possible they work something else and find him. IDK, we don't know really. Hopefully there's already more then enough to convict him.
ETA: Hell for one, the idiot had what sounds like a covid mask on. He probably is maskless 30 years ago. Fricking idiot was probably worried about getting covid while killing them.

That could be defended as circumstantial evidence. He was in a general area.
If you're within range of two towers it narrows down your location. If you're within range of three, it can pretty much pinpoint you.

If you read the affidavit you'll find that there is.
He's done.
Go read the damn thing.

DNA evidence
Trace DNA most likely. They couldn't test for that 30 years ago.
They may could have come back to it now as a cold case and tested for it. Not sure it would have still been there.

How many average sized white males with dark hair do you think there are between the two campuses of Idaho and Washington State? That’s gotta be well over a few thousand
I don’t think that narrows it down nearly enough.
But you are right, maybe there is something else that links him to them that we don’t know yet (maybe weird interactions at X & M’s work or something).

Thought the same thing, but I’m not sure how that applies to a TA, as he’s basically an employee that’s going to school.

Circumstantial evidence is still evidence.

I thought he was enrolled as a student in a PhD program?
Regardless, I know it's quite easy to live in WA state with plates from a different state.
However, I'm much smarter than this moronic pos.

Real curious after all said and done, he didn’t murder someone prior in PA or elsewhere beforehand or this turns out to be his first killing
