I remember seeing ICE at the Super Bowl I went to in NOLA over a decade ago. They primarily worked the security at the entrance checking bags, etc.
this time they'll be murdering innocent American citizens.

You are aware that the specific action of naming ICE is purely political and has absolutel not one thing to do with safety at the Super Bowl. I would assume you are additionally aware that ICE hasn't been mentioned in just about every previous year as being necessary at the Super Bowl, even if ICE was present. But continue to play ignorant.

Are you too ignorant to look at the post directly between yours and this one?

Very seldom I see such a self-own, but you tried hard and succeeded. You should be proud sir.

Exactly what it is. I think the face value on those tickets is about $2,500 apiece…there’s not going to be a hell of a large illegal presence. Trump just wants a show of force for those that are not currently impressed.

Even though DHS and its agencies have been involved helping security of the Super Bowl and its surrounding events likely since its inception?

Also more to your point of grandstanding and waste
quote:

In 2021, the Department of Justice began carrying out an investigation into white supremacy and extremism in the DHS ranks.

More reasons we have 10s of millions of illegal invaders in this country. Don’t look for them, make it easy to get in and fake asylum, and then put on political theater when you lose a ton of illegal kids.
quote:

DHS also halted large-scale immigration raids at job sites, saying in October 2021 that the administration was planning "a new enforcement strategy to more effectively target employers who pay substandard wages and engage in exploitative labor practices.”

In 2023, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol began using an app which requires asylum seekers to submit biometric information before they enter the country.

In June 2024, John Boyd, the head of the DHS Office of Biometric Identity Management, announced at a conference that the agency "is looking into ways it might use facial recognition technology to track the identities of migrant children." According to Boyd, the initiative is intended to advance the development of facial recognition algorithms. A former DHS official said that every migrant processing center he visited engaged in biometric identity collection, and that children were not separated out during processing. DHS denied collecting the biometric data of children under 14.

I read an article 15 years ago that did a deep dive into sex trafficking at the Superbowl. It's one of the biggest draws there is and ICE would be there to help rescue victims and arrest pimps.

They've been so well behaved in crowd control; why not turn the Super Bowl into a shooting range too?

I guess Bush, Obama, and Biden’s Autopen were doing the same when their DHS agencies including ICE were also involved with the Super Bowl’s security as well as security and enforcement at events during Super Bowl week.

In this specific case on ICE enforcement it wasn’t even an announcement. It was an answer to a TMZ Sports reporter’s question about whether ICE would continue with its enforcement during Super Bowl that some in this thread & elsewhere are ignorantly treating as some kind of promo push by ICE and Trump.
quote:

The Department of Homeland Security has no plans to steer clear of the Super Bowl, despite tension and unrest after the shootings in Minnesota ... telling TMZ Sports, "Those who are here legally and are not breaking other laws have nothing to fear."

Immigration and Customs Enforcement were reportedly set to carry out immigration enforcement at Super Bowl LX on February 8 in Santa Clara, CA ... but with the controversy surrounding the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, would Homeland Security back off?

"DHS is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure the Super Bowl is safe for everyone involved, as we do with every major sporting event, including the World Cup," Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said. "Our mission remains unchanged."

"We will not disclose future operations or discuss personnel. Super Bowl security will entail a whole of government response conducted in-line with the U.S. Constitution."

McLaughlin added, "Those who are here legally and are not breaking other laws have nothing to fear."

The question from TMZ was probably based on an off handed comment made on a podcast back in October that also wasn’t a prepared statement or official press release or anything close to that and was basically saying that ICE wasn’t pausing it’s enforcement for anything under Trump including Super Bowls.

quote:

DHS adviser Corey Lewandowski said back in October that enforcement is a "directive from the president," and will not be paused for the Super Bowl.

"There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally," Lewandowski said on "The Benny Show" podcast. "Not the Super Bowl and no where else. We will find and deport you. That is a very real situation."

The SB and NBA All Star weekend are probably 2 of the biggest sex trafficking weekends.
